Tebow Makes Kids’ W15Hes Come True

Posted by Jim_Daly on Jan 11, 2012 6:18:20 AM

We’ve all seen the ads: Pro sports star wins a huge game, and in the ensuing celebratory bedlam encounters a camera and a voice behind it that says, “You’ve just won the biggest game of your career. What’s next?”tebow7.jpg

The answer, a stroke of marketing genius by the House That Walt Built: “I’m going to DisneyWorld.”

But Tim Tebow – if we’ve learned anything at all about him by now – is not your typical NFL star. The young man known on the field for orchestrating thrilling last-minute comebacks for his Denver Broncos, and off the field for his uncompromising Christian faith, got the well-worn “How does it feel?” question after the team’s astonishing overtime win against the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. And his response had nothing to do with a theme park – and not much to do with winning his first-ever NFL playoff game.

“Football is amazing. We love it. We're so passionate about it,” Tebow said in his postgame news conference Sunday. “But the real win, at least I would say today, is being able to comfort a girl who has gone through 73 surgeries before the game and get a chance to go hang out with her now.

“That's the biggest win of the day. They're both exciting, but that's what I'm even more proud of."

The quarterback was talking about Bailey Knaub, a high-schooler from Loveland, Colo., suffering from granulomatosis, a rare vascular disorder that has cost her a lung. She got the VIP treatment at Sports Authority Field at Mile High courtesy of the W15H Program (the “Wish” Program, with Tebow’s uniform number standing in for the “I” and “S”), just one of many charitable outreaches of Tebow’s nonprofit foundation.tebow8.jpg

“After warm-up, he walked over to me and gave me the football and said we'd talk after they won the game and he'd sign the football later," Bailey told her hometown newspaper. “He talked to me for like a minute, and he called me by name. I was almost squealing I was so happy."

We talk a lot at Focus on the Family about the need, as Christians, to live lives equally steeped in orthodoxy (the study of God’s Word) and orthopraxy (the doing of His Word). The Bible’s exhortations to care for the less fortunate, to consider others greater than ourselves, to lay down our lives for the sake of a friend, are not merely or even primarily instructive historical stories. They’re modern-day, everyday responsibilities for us as believers – and the example Tim Tebow sets in living up to those responsibilities is far more important than anything he accomplishes on a football field.

  • Bailey Knaub might be the most well-known of the children and young adults helped by the W15H Program. but she’s hardly the only one. Among the others honored this year by the outreach that receives about 600 letters from needy kids per week:

  • Woody Roseland, 21, of Denver, who met Tebow before the Broncos’ Sept. 12 home opener against the Oakland Raiders. Struck by cancer at 16, Roseland has overcome many obstacles, including being diagnosed with the disease on five occasions.

  • Garrett Atwood, 16, of Winter Springs, Fla., diagnosed in September 2010 with a life-threatening illness known as arteriovenous malformation, a disease that affects the connections of the arteries and veins. Following his diagnosis, Atwood was hospitalized for two and a half months and endured several weeks of rehab just to learn how to walk and talk again. On Oct 23, before Denver’s road game against the Miami Dolphins, he met his hero.tebow9.jpg

Adam Hubbs, 16, of St. Louis, who always dreamed playing in front of thousands as a pro football player. In 2008, though, he was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening blood disorder. Hubbs has faced many medical battles in the years since then, including being in a coma for five weeks and suffering a stroke that paralyzed the left side of his body. But on Oct. 9, before the Broncos’ home game against the San Diego Chargers, he finally had that opportunity to step on the pro field he had always dreamed of – alongside Tebow.

It’s hard to remember a time when the nation’s attention was as fixed – not just in the sports pages but on the news pages as well – on a single football player the way it has been on Tim Tebow this season. How refreshing, and how challenging for his fellow believers, that as all this craziness is swirling around him, his attention is focused on putting feet to his faith – even when they aren’t carrying him toward the goal line.

What a wonderful young man.  He embodies what all Christians should be.  Our 14 year old son wanted one thing for Christmas, Tim's book.  What we thought we be easy was a nearly impossible task.  Time and again we were told we just sold the last one.  We did finally order one.  What's amazing about that? Our son is an athlete, who doesn't like to read (vision related) and most importantly a Christian.  He said I'd rather read about him than the other people who pretend to believe.  Tim believes.  I think our son is right.  And brother are all the people ever talking about Tim and John 3:16!
Jan 11, 2012 5:29 PM Guest Michelle  says:
Refreshing to have a young man that has his priorities straight and his feet firmly planted in his faith.
Jan 11, 2012 5:37 PM Guest Tim S.  says:

Keep praying for Tim. God is working in Tim and through the prayers of the saints, not for who wins or loses, but to glorify Jesus Christ, and sometimes that involves winning. Pray for protection of Tim from the intense temptations that bombard him, and for protection against evil. May God's glory continue to abound in his life as he first of all loves Jesus Christ with all of his heart, mind and strength, and second, loves others as he loves himself. May the saints be encouraged to live with similar joy and faith and self-discipline.

Jan 11, 2012 6:13 PM Guest Janet A.  says:

Keep this young man in your prayers!   There are so many temptations, not only in the physical realm, but pride, selfishness, arrogance that are seen in many sports "stars"

May Tim Tebow always live for the Lord!

Jan 11, 2012 6:13 PM Guest Jay M.  says:
The prophet Daniel was in a high pressured job, but he used his skills to give glory to God, just as we all should.  Even when threatened for his faith, Daniel publically prayed three times a day.  Tim Tebow is polarizing because he does put into practice what he believes.  This is not common in our culture.  Isn't that a reflection of the American church?
Jan 11, 2012 5:40 PM Guest Terry  says:

I have admired Tim Tebow since his days at University of Florida and I must say I still do. I pray for him that he is not effected by the world situation that he now in and hope he can always keep his focus. I watch every week and quite honestly I get somewhat turned off by the professional players and sports announcers that continuously mock and ridicule Tim's beliefs. If the Bronco's do not win another game this year it still has been a spectacular season and truely a thrill to watch this young man play and honor our God.

Can they go all the way? Hey, is anything impossible for God?

Jan 11, 2012 5:41 PM Guest LaJuan  says:
May the Lord Bless Tim even more for the life he is living and the example he is showing to the world.  I would hope that all Christians could be as outspoken and sincere.
Jan 11, 2012 6:16 PM Guest Mary Lou S.  says:
Tim is a terrific witness for Christ.  He has a big heart & an ego that is under the control of the Holy Spirit.  I admire him so much!
Jan 11, 2012 6:16 PM Guest Kerrie R.  says:
It's not about Tim it's about the God he serves.  Tim is just an ordinary guy that has accepted God as his Savior & that makes him extraordinary : ) I am proud to see his heart through his serving. It's not about winning a football game; it's about winning souls!  You don't have to be a star; You just have to be who God made you to be and show His Love by how you Live your Life.  Well Done!
Jan 11, 2012 5:46 PM Guest Heather  says:
Jan 11, 2012 6:17 PM Guest linda r.  says in response to Tim S.:

How refreshing to see someone live out their Christian faith, especially a young person, and one in the limelight for all to see!  Yes, we must pray for his protection against evil.  Thanks Tim for getting something refreshing on screen!

Jan 11, 2012 6:21 PM Guest Mike K.  says:

Jesus said, "For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me...And the King will answer them, 'I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.' " {Matthew 25:35-36,40}  "But someone will say, 'You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith from my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. The demons also believe -- and they shudder. Foolish man! Are you willing to learn that faith without works is useless?"

Brother Tim is one of many faithful followers of Jesus Christ who lives his faith with actions pleasing His heavenly Father and blessing those the world may overlook as not being rich, famous, or worth their attention. Tim is following Jesus by demonstrating God's love, compassion, and kindness - he's obeying the promptings of the Holy Spirit to encourage others needing a loving touch and a compassionate heart toward others. May God increase his influence, and may we stand with him in strong support of his visible representation of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ - may we do the same. Blessings to Tim, his family, and the Body of Christ in showing our faith in Jesus by proclaiming our allegiance with postive actions.

Jan 11, 2012 5:50 PM Guest Kelly  says:
Our family echoes the words of encouragement and prayer of Tim S.  We are so thankful to have Tim Tebow as a positive, faithful role model for our three children and countless children around the world.  May the Lord be glorified through Him on and off the field!!!
Jan 11, 2012 5:50 PM Guest Richard  says:

GO Tebow!!  He is a wonderful example to young and old alike. God has placed him in a unique position. So good to see him express his Christianity. May God protect him not just physically, but to keep him from falling to all the temptations of the world.

All of us who claim to be Christians need to be openly living out our faith, look for opportunities to witness to others and praise God each day!

Jan 11, 2012 7:21 PM Guest Beau S.  says:

I'm not a football fan at all, but Tim Tebow is one of my heroes. He inspires me to press on in everything, from college to faith in God, and to do it all with excellence.  He's got my kudos and my prayers.

And I'm also glad he's getting attention for his uncompromising faith.  I think it was Winston Churchill who said it best:  "You have enemies?  Good.  It means you stand up for something in life."

Jan 11, 2012 7:27 PM Guest Mary A.  says:
I am soo glad to have an awesome role model for my boys in Tim.  I'm a Raider fan, but found myself rooting for Tim when they played the Raiders!  I was not popular with my boys, but I have to root for my christian brothers.  I agree we definitely have to keep Tim in our prayers. I Pray that the Lord will continue to use him, to give him strengh and courage.  Also for his family.  As a mother I can imagine how hurtful it is to hear people talking trash about your kid.  Stay strong sister!!
Jan 11, 2012 5:55 PM Guest Jason  says:
It seems to be rare today to have a role model in professional sports. I pray that he stays this way and can continue to lead people and show how much strength can be through God.
Jan 11, 2012 5:59 PM Guest Thom  says:
Tim T is the story of the year in professional sports, and maybe of the year PERIOD. He is an example for all, an incredible role model for people young and old, and a torch bearer for all Christians. He has been blessed by and prepared by God to withstand the incredible scrutiny, endless criticism and uncalled-for ridicule that a society that has turned away from God chooses to heap upon him. All as they root for him to fail. All because of their own guilt, because they know he embodies what they don't have the courage to be, and should be. Tim is handling this with the strength and grace of Christ, as he works the mission God has put him here for. He is a ture, selfless hero, and his actions and words speak for themselves. As the Broncos prepare to face the Patriots Saturday, I know I am rooting for David and his left-handed sling to slay the strutting and taunting Goliath. But, regardless of the outcome, we know this young man will win a huge victory that day - for someone in need, And on many days yet to come. We are praying for you Tim, and may God bless you in your work, on and off the field.
Jan 11, 2012 7:28 PM Guest carol h.  says in response to Michelle:
i knew he was a christian when he played for florida.  it is so refreshing that he chooses to profress his love for Jesus to the whole world.  he truly embodies our Lord's command to go  out and teach to all nations.  I can only say God Bless You.
Jan 11, 2012 6:04 PM Guest elisa  says in response to Tim S.:
AMEN to that!!!!

I'm a Packer Fan - a Cheese Head and I love this guy!  Everyone is looking for Christians who are the "real deal."  People who not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk.  We're not expecting perfection, Tim, but we pray that you can keep doing what you are doing!
Jan 11, 2012 7:40 PM Guest Sally S.  says:
I tried to read this article to my husband but got so choked up he had to come read it for himself. We both appreciate Tim Tebow's testimony and are praying that he will continue to honor God with his popularity. I have never been a football fan but I have eleven grandsons and am thankful they can look to a positive role model in this dark world. Reading about Tim Tebow has made me appreciate football and I even enjoy watching the Bronco games! Praise God for raising up this wonderful young man.
Jan 11, 2012 7:41 PM Guest Dr. Dale S.  says in response to Tim S.:

After 50 plus years of mission service, one might consider retirement, but I am not, and this article is one more reason to keep on keeping on.  We have a children's & youth camp in Northwest Romania, and I am going to start sending information to the Director for the Youth over there.  They sure do need encouragement, and Tim IS ENCOURAGEMENT personified.

American  football is about as foreign as was Cricket for me in Britain or the Bahamas, but with Tim Tebow we will be able to really fire up a lot of kids, and we want to show them how a real man relates to Jesus.

Thank you, Focus for putting the REAL FOCUS on the REAL MAN OF GOD.  We will be able to show the young people in Romania just how important it is to live for God.

Dr. Dale

PS:  Many years ago my Aunt Ruth worked at Focus in Southern California. I believe that is where she found Jesus, and was I ever thrilled to visit her there at FOCUS once and to see how God was using her at the mail response operations.

Keep up the wonderful work, and just know, though many of us do not reply, FOCUS does have a huge impact in our USA and the World these days.  Where is Dr. D. these days?

Jan 11, 2012 7:44 PM Guest Jan W.  says:
Well said, Tim S.  As a mom I have found myself praying almost the same exact prayers for Tim.  Am not a football fan but when my two daughters ( 20 & 25) gave their dad his book I picked it up and started reading it...Was so blessed by the way he gives God the glory and His parents honor and love the ways he shares his parents practical parenting tips.  Lets all join in praying Tim's suggested prayer for him....
Jan 11, 2012 6:12 PM Guest Mizpah  says in response to Tim S.:
Amen!  I pray that the Process Blood of Jesus Christ cover him from the top of his head to the soul of his feet.
Jan 11, 2012 6:13 PM Guest Nancy  says:
Finally, a real hero and wonderful example for our kids!
Jan 11, 2012 6:15 PM Guest rob s  says:
.  I'm a huge steeler   fan hated to see the steelers lose but I love tim tebow im a  christian that is so proud of what tim is doing in Gods      name keep up the great work except when you play the steelers . God bless
Jan 11, 2012 7:44 PM Guest Kelley U.  says:
He is truly a remarkable young man - a real-life hero whose commitment to Christ is a great example/encouragement to many people. And it pains me when I read all the criticism he has received for being so open about his faith; the media is just waiting for him to make a wrong move. I agree with Tim S's comment regarding praying for Tim Tebow. I am committing to pray for him on a weekly basis and encourage others to commit to that as well.
Jan 11, 2012 6:17 PM Guest Amy  says:
I LOVE TEBOW!!!  It is truly refreshing to see a talented young man so enthusiastically living out his faith!!  He has endured ridicule from the media and held his head high!  He is truly "not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ."  May God continue to bless him and keep him strong in kis faith!
Jan 11, 2012 8:01 PM Guest Nellie T.  says in response to Tim S.:

My heart rejoices everytime I think about this young man, which has been a lot.... because he seems to always have something being said about him,

whether good or bad!  He is like a modern day Daniel,  and I for one am thrilled to see a sports figure that is worth admiration for who he is in the Lord,

and someone for the young people of this generation to look up to and aspire to be like.  It is incrediblly delightful to watch how the Lord is using him.

I pray for him everyday because I know there has to be incredible pressure on him, as just the comments in the news media are just the tip of the iceberg of what he probably has to deal with.  Yes, Tim S. you are so right,  we all need to be praying for this young man because I am sure the evil one is doing everything he can to defeat him or make him look bad.  He certainly encourages my heart............and I am in no way a football fan,  but I love watching Tim Tebow play,  because I love what and who he stands for, and what a sweet, genuine young man he is.

May God continue to bless him every minute of everyday.

Jan 11, 2012 6:24 PM Guest Mary  says:
I pray that Tim will always keep the Lord first in his life.  God Bless Him and his ministry
Jan 11, 2012 6:25 PM Guest Bob H.  says in response to Tim S.:

May God truly bless Tim Tebow. I'm 70 years old (and a sports nut) and he is my all time favorite college player not just for his athletic ability but for the person he is. Regardless of his performance as a NFL quarterback I have no doubt that God has major plans for him. I would love to have just one hour to sit and talk to him. I will pray for Tim and his protection without ceasing. Go Broncos!

Jan 11, 2012 8:05 PM Guest Fae C.  says:
I am just so proud of Tim as he demonstrates his christian faith before the world.  We must continue to pray for his safety & that he will be shielded from the evil forces that are out there.  He is a young man that all families would like their sons or daughters to be.  He is a unselfish young man who never talks about himself but how someone else on his team helped win the game or in some way gives them praise.
Jan 11, 2012 6:26 PM Guest Cookie  says in response to Tim S.:
Thank you Tim S., for your awareness and insight. How true. And, as you and others, I have and will continue to pray as you mentioned.
Jan 11, 2012 8:10 PM Guest Susan G.  says:
Tim Tebow is a true example of God's amazing grace, love, and unselfish service to a generation plagued with a "me first attitude".  He shows what uncomprimising faith and dedication to a God-focused life can produce!  I'm proud and humbled to be part of the same family with him.....the family of God!
Jan 11, 2012 8:10 PM Guest Sharol C  says:

What a platform the Lord is giving Tim to be a Light to an unbelieving world.  May we as

Christ followers committ to keeping him in our prayers as the enemy would like to

destroy him and what he stands for.  May many come to know our Lord as they check out the scripture John 3:16.  Thanks Tim for being such a wonderful "godly" role model for

the world and thanks to your parents who committed to raising such a wonderful son who wants to honor God with his life.  To God Be the Glory!

Jan 11, 2012 8:14 PM Guest Nellie T.  says in response to linda r.:

My heart rejoices every time I hear about this young man,  which has been a lot,  since he always has something being said about him in the media,

whether good or bad.  I for one, am beyond thrilled that their is an athlete that young people can look up to for his integrity and moral values and mostly of all his walk with the Lord.  Someone they can pattern their life after!!  It is absolutely delightful to watch the way the Lord is using him,  and when have you ever seen people quoting John 3:16 on TV or writing about it in the Newspaper or online.  Truly Amazing!!  and Exciting!!

I pray for Tim every day,  and yes. Tim S.,  you are so right,  we do all need to be praying for him,  cause this is a lot of pressure for a young person to withstand,  but he is like a modern day Daniel,  but I am sure the enemy will do all he can to try and trip him up.  We should pray for his parents too,  cause I am sure it is hard for them too.

I am not a football fan by any means,  but I love watching Tim Tebow play because I love what and who he stands for,  and admire is determination and strength of character.  He is an encouragement and a blessing to christians everywhere,  and to the secular world too.  I pray the Lord blesses

Tim every minute of every day for his heart for Him!   Way to go Tim!!

Jan 11, 2012 8:20 PM Guest Bob B.  says:
Tim Tebow is amazing!  What a refreshing inspiration and example to us all.  I'm not a Denver Bronco's fan but after seeing all the good Tim is doing on and off the field I am rooting for Tim Tebow and the Broncos to win it all.  God bless him!
Jan 11, 2012 6:52 PM Guest Shannon  says:
He is just so wonderful. This article brought tears to my eyes. It's so awesome to see a real Christian in a spotlight like that so everyone can see what he's doing for Christ. We need more people like this!

As a parent, I can't express my gratitude for someone finally embracing and understanding the term 'role model'.  I have my jersey and proudly wear it through the wins and losses.  Thank the Lord for Tim and please pray for him as he faces the critics of Christianity.

Praise our Lord Jesus and..........Go Broncos!!

Jan 11, 2012 7:05 PM Guest Rabid Gator  says in response to Janet A.:
I pray for Tim continually...that God will lead and guide him and protect his testimony!

I wonder if Tim Tebow is redefining the game of football from a Christ centered world view.

What a great example for our young people in this world- this is what an athlete should exemplify!
Jan 11, 2012 7:34 PM Guest g  says:
So good to see christians like him to stand for their faith. May the Lord bless his efforrts.
Jan 11, 2012 8:28 PM Guest Becki  says:
Praise the Lord for His messengers!  Tim is certainly one of them, but as many pointed out, he is in DESPERATE need of prayer.  The enemy does not like him one bit and would LOVE nothing more than to destroy him.  Also, we must remember, as I am sure Tim would agree, that we are not to "idolize" a man and after all that is all he is.  A Godly man under great pressure, but still just a man.
Jan 11, 2012 8:29 PM Guest Peter K.  says:

Tim Tebow's on-the-field prayer posture -- on bended knee, elbow at knee with fist to forehead of bowed head -- is fast becoming a nationally-recognized iconic symbol. I offer this anecdote as proof.

Late-Night TV host Jay Leno recently featured this segment which I feel was within the bounds of acceptable good taste. Mimmicking individuals who claim to see the likenesses of religious figures (Jesus, Mary) in the most unlikely places, Leno produced a piece of toasted bread with a charred burn spot in the shape of a profile depicting Tebow at prayer.

Jan 11, 2012 8:30 PM Guest Jan S.  says:
Win, loose, or draw, Tebow is #1
Jan 11, 2012 8:33 PM Guest Janet a.  says:
I don't follow football much, but to say the least he is a sensation!! I haven't read his book however I would bet it talks about his folks faith and their work in the Phillipines as Missionaries. It all add's up when the full story of the remarkable family is told.God bless and keep Tim focused on God..
Jan 11, 2012 8:05 PM Guest Carol B.  says:

I too am very happy to see someone so humble and willing to give God credited through Jesus. His parents raised a beautiful young man I would hope my grandson would enjoy watching. Keep up the good work Tebow.

Jan 11, 2012 8:38 PM Guest Jeff H.  says:

Tim is a REAL and oh so RARE hero in this culture of superficiality!!  May his tribe increase!

Jan 11, 2012 8:36 PM Guest Rusty  says:
There's a saying that the definition of a christian is called the 3 C's. It is a person who is Completely fearless, Continually cheerful, and Constantly in trouble! This definition exemplifies Tim Tebow as the Apostle Paul who is faithful to the Lord and shown to be a great example to those around him expressing the love and nature of Christ. Tim has taken a lot of heat in the press and yet Tim has shown that Christ is his defense. He has been a great witness to his teammates and staff, let alone expressing the aroma of Christ to the media and football fans around the nation. God Bless you richly Tim and keep focusing on our Lord Jesus Christ!!!
Jan 11, 2012 8:39 PM Guest Joe  says:
That's...what I'm talkin' about!
Jan 11, 2012 9:27 PM Guest Ken  says in response to Joe:

What a joy to see a young man with such conviction. Occasionally, I will listen to the sport talk programs and I had to laugh at how silly some of them sound as they try to discredit Tim as some religious Fanatic. I saw one of his interviews on youtube and it was such a stark condemnation of his detractors simply by the way he presents himself. Looking at the sincerity and genuine kindness of this man I couldn't help but feel joy fill my heart. At last a real hero we can believe in and a positive role model for so many young athletes. May he have many more opportunities to bring glory to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

Jan 11, 2012 9:35 PM Guest Susan  says:

I find myself just grining ear to ear as we all celebrate Tebow time. What a wonderful inspiring story!

BUT i also find myself praying that Tim Tebow will realize the HUGE responsibliity he nowhas  to STAY TRUE  to his commitment to integrity. Our culture likes to set up heros-- and then we tend to try to knock them down. If Tim makes a dumb misstep( a la Michael Phelps  after his hero status at the Olympics) the press tends to relish it. But in this case, it will be said "those Christians are all fake , disingenuous, etc."

Jan 11, 2012 9:59 PM Guest mary  says:

WITH ALL THE 'CRAZIES' IN THIS WORLD WHO GET ATTENTION IN THE MEDIA,

HOW REFRESHING TO HAVE TIM TEBOW IN THE SPOTLIGHT.  HOW EVIDENT IT IS THAT CHRISTIANS ARE STILL BEING PERSECUTED WHEN YOU SEE THE

OUTCRIES DETESTING THAT TIME TEBOW PUTS A KNEE TO THE FIELD.   TIM T. DOESN'T SAY THAT GOD HELPS HIS TEAM WIN,BUT GIVES CREDIT TO GOD

FOR THE TALENT HE HAS BEEN ABLE TO ACHIEVE.  AS SUSAN SAYS IN HER COMMENT, LET US PRAY ANY OBSTACLES OUT OF THE WAY OF TEBOW THAT MIGHT TEMPT HIM TO SWAY FROM HIS MORAL LIFE.  THE MEDIA

WOULD LOVE FOR HIM TO FAIL IN SOME WAY THAT THEY COULD MAKE NEWS WITH.  MAY TIM TEBOW ALWAYS BE AN EXAMPLE OF "THE GOOD NEWS"!  THE MAY OR PITTSBURGH MADE FOR A GOOD CHRISTIAN DISPLAY.

Jan 11, 2012 10:03 PM Guest Gerry  says:
I hate football, but I will be watching the game because Tebow is playing.  I wish the media would stop bullying him.  What a great young man!
Jan 11, 2012 10:15 PM Guest Veronica  says:
Ah I just love him!!! : ) So sincere! Thanks for all your positive articles about him!
Jan 11, 2012 10:24 PM Guest Roxanne  says:
I am a Patriots fan and am torn about who to root for in this Sat. play off game between Denver and Pats. It's interesting that Tom Brady (Pat's QB)who has "had it all" asked in an interview after 3 Super Bowl wins "If this was all there is to life?" is playing against Tim who has all that matters in life, Jesus Christ. I hope and pray Tim can share The Life with Tom at some point. I also homeschool and am so excited to see a great visible example of the homeschool community in Tim T. and his family for me and my children and the world. I'm so encouraged to see how many are praying for Tim T. Keep it up.
Jan 12, 2012 12:08 AM Guest Adam  says:
I know I have heard people I hang and work around with have their opinions of Tim.  I don't know much of him on football but from what I have seen and heard of stories like this inspires me.  Tim challenges me in ways I cannot even describe and I hope I can even become as self-less as he is.  I hope he stays true to the faith.  And let us support him for he will make mistakes.
Jan 12, 2012 6:08 AM Guest JOSEPH  says:
TIM TEBOW USES HIS SPIRITUALLY GOD GIVEN GIFTS NOT FOR ADMIRATION BUT FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
Jan 12, 2012 6:13 AM Guest Robert D  says:
I am so proud to see a young man follow Jesus.  I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa.  I have been an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers since I was a teenager.  They are my team and always will be.  I wanted them to beat Denver, but that wasn't in God's plan.  I am a Christian and the most important thing that we can do on this earth until God brings us home , is to show the love that God has given us to as many people as we can and to give our message and testimony to others and pass our blessings on to them, and pray for them to accept Jesus into their hearts.  We need more people on this earth like Tim, you are a true blessing and a faithful servant of our lord and savior.  Have a blessed career and if it is in God's plan you will be the Super Bowl Chamions.  May God Bless You and Your Family.  Sincerely yours,  Robert
Jan 12, 2012 3:33 AM tel4him tel4him    says:
He's the kind of man I want my sons to grow up to be.
Jan 12, 2012 6:15 AM Guest Carla V  says in response to Tim S.:
I agree with Tim S. we must lift Tim Tebow up in prayer.  Satan can not be happy with all the attention Tim is drawing to his love for Jesus Christ.  He will want Tim to fail big time.  We must pray him over and through all the roadblocks Satan will put in his path.
Jan 12, 2012 5:04 AM Guest Eric  says:
That kid is just total class.  Atta' boy, Tim!
Jan 12, 2012 5:41 AM Guest Jeff  says:

I watched my first NFL football game this past week and had the pleasure of learning about this extra-ordinary young man Tim Tebow.  I found myself liking him instantly.  The reason; I see Jesus in him.  Thank you Tim for being a wonderful example of how to let Jesus live in us, and through us.  God bless you and all that you do.  By the way.  I am now a Bronco's fan and will be watching every game Tim plays the rest of this year and onward.  We will be praying for God's anointing, guidance and protection in your life.  Jeff and Kids.

p.s.  I'm talking to them about you in our prayers.  You are an inspiration to us.  I hope you truly see and know how many people you are having a kingdom effect on.

Jan 12, 2012 6:18 AM Guest Conrad B  says:

For those detractors like Charles Barkley who say that America has had enough of Tim Tebow, does Barkley think that Tebow has a Public Relations organization that is pushing all of the reporting?   Tim is doing good the way God has told us to and people are amazed.  News reporters are taught to gain readership by telling about the unusual.  Tim Tebow is unusual playing football or, more importanly, living his life outside football.

Jan 12, 2012 6:16 AM Guest SUE  says:
I am so impressed with Tim Tebow.  May the Lord continue to bless him.
Jan 12, 2012 6:31 AM Guest Barry B  says:
I got home from church just in time to see the very last but most important play Sunday, and I was making so much noise cheering for that play that I was afraid the neighbors might think something was wrong! When I saw the press conference and Tim mentioned going to be with Bailey Knaub, I could not have been more impressed with how Tim genuinely looks out for others more than himself. Thank the Lord for a guy that is such a great, great role model in the age of the Lady Gagas, and I agree - we need to pray for Tim not so much to win in the game of football but in the game of life. His faithfulness is a blessing and an inspiration to all of us!
Jan 12, 2012 6:33 AM Guest janet  says:
While I pray for Tim's continuted success as a football player and that he contintues to be a shining example of Christianity there, I'm happy that he knows what's most important in life, and it isn't football.  God bless him!
Jan 12, 2012 6:46 AM Guest Mona  says:

What an amazing young man!  If only the world would follow his example!  May God bless you Tim Tebow in everything that you do!

Jan 12, 2012 6:46 AM Guest Melissa  says:
Great job Tim!  Thank you for standing up for Christianity and for what is right.  We'll be praying for you!
Jan 12, 2012 6:49 AM Guest AmyG  says:
This is so well said! Tebow reminds me of Paul, Silas, and the early church turning the world upside down (Acts 16:6). Many believed in the name of the Lord because of their work, and yet many also tried to disrupt and discredit these men of God and the gospel they presented.  Even so, an imprisoned Paul and Silas prayed and praised God. Sound unbelievably familiar? I agree with you: this is a great example orthodoxy (the study of God’s Word) and orthopraxy (the doing of His Word) in motion.
Jan 12, 2012 6:53 AM Guest Burt  says:
I pray that Tim stays strong and faithful.  Even the profane Dennis Miller said on O'Reilly last night that he loves Tim, and if he had a daughter, he'd be thrilled if she brought him home.  I'm amused that the media can't get away with talking or portraying his career into something it isn't, beginning with his college career.
Jan 12, 2012 6:54 AM Guest kksmom  says in response to Tim S.:
A very real need! Praying for you Tim!
Jan 12, 2012 6:56 AM Guest Laura  says:
It is refreshing to see a young 20-something man have such strong character and conviction. In a world where "me" is the main theme of life, it is encouraging to see that there are still those out there who know that the real focus is Christ. This is the type of man I pray that my daughter will be blessed to find and marry.
Jan 12, 2012 7:00 AM Guest Aurora  says:
Praise God for all that Tim Tebow is.... I pray that he will continue to stay strong in Christ, I am not a footbal fan and I don't care who wins it is not about that, but when I see so many people mocking him and our Lord, you know he will win... so our Lord will be glorified.  Keep it up Tim, it is a big job you are into, but the Lord prepared you for it... to those who much was given much is expected.  If all the Christian players lived like Tim they will be much more powerful then they are.  He is truly like Daniel, people will start praying to Tebow's God .  Let's keep him in our prayers and pray for all Christians to live like that.  I hope Focus on the Family forwards all these comments to him so he can be encouraged. Tim - keep your focus on Christ, stay close to Him, so His name will not be put to shame.
Jan 12, 2012 7:19 AM Guest Bob E  says:
Thank you Tim Tebow for truly living an authentic christian life!
Jan 12, 2012 7:19 AM Guest Richard  says:
I just finished reading "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan. Tim exemplifies the challenge that Jesus put to us.  To be his feet and his hands.  Keep the faith, Tim.  The world will be attacking you!
Jan 12, 2012 7:38 AM Guest Debbie  says:

To God Be The Glory (Ps. 115:1).....This young man certainly depicts Christianity in shoe leather!   As others have mentioned, we really need to pray for him for he surely is (or will be) in he crosshairs of the devil for his stand for Christ (the devil's arch emeny)!    He has a forum many of us will NEVER have and is using it to magnify our great Savior (what a blessing)!

Keep up the great work Tim...you are not alone and be encouraged that you have a band prayer supporters!

Jan 12, 2012 8:00 AM Guest Sue R  says:
Tim brings a very refreshing story to the NFL.  Rather than thumping his chest to congratulate himself when he scores, he kneels to thank God and honor his Maker and Master!  I pray for him and his safety often and also petition God to allow the youngest who look up to him to see the way we should all live.  He's  been given so much - health, strength, good looks and a heart that loves the Lord.  May we see more heros in sports like Tim Tebow!
Jan 12, 2012 8:18 AM Guest Nate P  says:
The world and the church needs more Tim Tebow's.  A young man who lets his actions speak not only in his faith but in his work ethic for his profession which happens to be a sport.
Jan 12, 2012 8:34 AM Guest Jerry T  says:
I have been a fan of Tebow, for a while. I am impressed not only by his actions but I am inspired by his inner peace that only comes from God, he is an inspiration for me as well as so many other people. He is already a winner, and he his helping so many other people become winners too. He has not even met the thousands of people he helps to encourage everyday, whether he wins or loses on the field. I pray for Tim, as we all need to be lifted up in prayer. I see so much evil in this world today, and it is just so awesome to see someone in the spotlight, who is resolved not to conform, to his enviroment.
Jan 12, 2012 8:34 AM Guest brian  says:
Tim Tebow has given me hope. In a world where we are desperately in need of a role model! Tim points to the one true roll model Jesus Christ taking none of the Glory away from our King.
Jan 12, 2012 8:45 AM Guest Angela  says in response to Tim S.:
Absolutely!!!!  All Christian should be praying for this man.  We know the power of satan and you know he's NOT happy with the witness that Tebow is giving.
Jan 12, 2012 9:11 AM Guest Michelle  says:
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever!  Thank you Tim for LIVING OUT what Christ commands all believers to do!  I pray you never waiver!
Jan 12, 2012 9:25 AM Guest Betty P  says:

I love this young man.  What an example he is setting for our youth.  Keep it up, Tim.  God, keep Tim safe and healthy and let him continue his ministry.

Jan 12, 2012 9:29 AM Guest Nancy  says:
Tim Tebrow is an athlete that I'm excited to watch develop as a player and as a person. It's great to have a role model in the NFL that my young sons can look up to.
Jan 12, 2012 9:37 AM Guest Martha B.  says:

Great article about a great young man! The "world" just doesn't know what to make of him! God is using Tim's life (just check out the lead photo in the 1-16-12 issue of Sport's Illustrated magazine) and abilities to reveal the humble lives of so many Believers living without the recognition and as a contrast to those who claim to be Christians, yet live a life exalting and reveling in self!  There are many Christ-like athletes, but God has exalted Tim Tebow at this  time as an example of the "real deal" when it comes to playing the game of football and living A LIFE following and serving Christ! What an example for all who are living life as a game and playing around with their 'faith!' No wonder the world doesn't know what to think of this extraordinary young man!

Jan 12, 2012 9:58 AM Guest Jim  says in response to Tim S.:
AMEN. Tim has daily been in my prayers. Satan has to be squirming at the positive impact Tebow has been making and will be looking for any way to attack.  I pray for protection and for strength for this remarkable young man. As a teacher of middle school students, it's wonderful to be able to point out a positive Christian example!
Jan 12, 2012 10:24 AM Guest w.a.  says:

Did you notice Tim's yards passing total...3 1 6

Jan 12, 2012 10:41 AM Guest Mic T  says:
I do like football, but I am hearing about this guy every where, Focus on the Family, my family, telivision, the sunday paper,... etc. It's great that he is a christian and supposedly a good guy. This may turn on the christians that raise him up on a pedeistal. Tebow is human and he will make mistakes, I'm sure his every move is being noted by the media. I honestly feel sorry for Tebow being put into this idolized pressure from christians. I think Tebow just wants a carreer for himself and to praise God while he does it. If satan attacks Tebow and he "screws up" this will be a great discouragement for those that gave him such praise. The higher they are the harder they fall.
Jan 12, 2012 11:00 AM Guest Chare  says in response to Terry:

I think they can go all the way! Tim is awesome and so are the Broncos... you know, if they did go all the way it would be sort of like Facing the Giants...

He is a great role model and I'm sooo glad that there are true believers out there in the sports world.

Jan 12, 2012 11:20 AM Guest TeeCee  says:
Choked into tears reading this refreshing article regarding the not-your-typical big super star American athlete.  Truly a blessing from God.
Jan 12, 2012 11:27 AM Guest Dave  says:

It's so refreshing to see a profesional sports star with their priorties straight.  Too bad this isn't a non-story because then all sports stars would be acknolwedging that their skills and talent come from our holy father alone.  I've seen a couple of cynical posts here and simply put we are all sinners and only through comunion can we resolve our sins.  Tim Tebow is no different than any of his fellow Christians in that regard and even though he is in a high profile position without trying to put words in his mouth I think he gets that.  Bless you Tim Tebow for what you are doing.  I too will pray for your humility and grace in accepting your success on the field of play but more importantly through your good works to others.

Jan 12, 2012 11:46 AM Guest julianne k  says in response to Lisa:
I had the same problem for the present I wanted to give our Pastor. It was no where to be found
Jan 12, 2012 12:01 PM Guest Roger, Old Guy  says:
"Well Done" to Tim Tebow. You live your faith while battling on the gridiron and you share you faith off the field with kids who are battling in life. May God continue to Bless your Efforts. Our family has had the priviledge of watching one of Tim's opponents this week-Matthew Slater, of the New England Patriots, grow into a Champion for Jesus Christ. Matt (who made his first Pro Bowl this year-Speciality Teams guy!!) also lives his Faith in Christ on and off the field. He, along with his dad, Jackie Slater (NFL Hall of Famer) are also two men who would rather walk the talk with Action verses just sitting back and taking in. What would Tim and Matt and Jackie say to all of us--Get Involved where you live. There are kids and families, men and women who need a hug, a hand, a Hello--in our communites. Let's take Tim Tebow's example and jump into the game--in the name of Christ.
Jan 12, 2012 1:00 PM Guest John  says:
I believe Tim has a deep feeling for the kids and a very strong faith. Keep it up Tim! Football is great, as all sports are, but they are not the greatest thing.
Jan 12, 2012 1:07 PM Guest Julia  says in response to Jay M.:

Thanks, Mr. Daly,  Jay M. & Tim S, I am parying along with Janet A. for Tim to remain strong and for God's divine protection!

Know a young man, Zack getting to meet Tim through this W15H program this Sat. before the Patriots/BRONCO game. (He is also an AMAZING, as he shares the message of Grace and God's faithfulness daily.)

We have a miracoulous GOD!  ~

Jan 12, 2012 1:27 PM Guest Sandy  says in response to Janet A.:
I was going to post the exact same thing.  I pray for him often.
Jan 12, 2012 1:58 PM Guest Thelma J  says:

Praise the Lord! It is so good to have a celebrity that isn't letting it change him.

How wonderful to be God's instrument in bringing some comfort and happiness to these children.

Jan 12, 2012 2:17 PM Guest Nanci  says:
TIm is wonderful!  What an amazing man and such an inspiration for our young children and young adults.  He is a gift to us from God.  Thank you GOd for Tim, thank you to his wonderful mom for bringing him into this world and TIM, thank you for bringing so much love, encouragement and spirituality into this broken world. As a mother of 4, you are my inspiration.  Finally, someone our kids can look up to who has morals and is living a GOdly life.  They are so few.  Love you TIm!
Jan 12, 2012 2:29 PM Guest Jeanne  says:
Tim is so incredible because his identity does not come by being the QB for the Broncos. His identity is through his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Jan 12, 2012 4:29 PM Guest Bethany  says:

Tim Tebow is awesome! He is my favorite football player ever! I am reading his book now and am loving it! He is such a man of God and really strives to please the Lord in everything He does.  What a neat example he is leaving for many to look up to!

Jan 12, 2012 4:34 PM Guest Randy  says:
Both my kids were born in Denver but we reside now in Kansas City among many Chiefs fans. I have never stopped being a Broncos fan, but now more than ever (along with my wife and daughter). We all have new Broncos jerseys and hoodies and are just having a ball watching games and pulling for Tim to succeed as a player and, more importantly, as a young man affecting so many people with his faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You go Tim!!
Jan 12, 2012 5:52 PM Guest wey  says:

Praise the Lord!  What an outstanding gift from God: that he has provided a real man who was nearly aborted and puts his faith to do what the Lord would do for true believers.  I know that God will be glad to welcome him to the eternal home when his time on earth is over.

It is so gratifying to hear about real heros of humanity!  Many God lead this young man to greater deeds that he will want Tim to perform.  I feel gifted to hear about his great devotion to the Lord.  May God bless and use him in his trip thru hid time among us!

Jan 12, 2012 5:57 PM Guest Bernice R  says in response to Bethany:
I have never been a football fan, but this Christmas, I found myself looking for the Tim Tebow's book for young readers for my 11 year old grandson.  I found myself reading the news regarding the last football game with Broncos vs. Steelers and all the news regarding TIm Tebow. It is just so refreshing to see a young man truly living a life that is about others and not all about him.  The news media would love to bring him down, so we need to pray for this young man.
Jan 12, 2012 6:26 PM Guest Ramona  says:
Praise the Lord we have a pro athlete as amazing as Tim Tebow...I pray God will continue to bless him in amazing ways.
Jan 12, 2012 6:54 PM Guest Jan  says:
Love this guy but I know his Lord loves him even more.  He truly "walks the talk".
Jan 12, 2012 8:00 PM Guest Dottie  says in response to Kerrie R.:
Well said. I agree with what you said.
Jan 12, 2012 8:01 PM Guest T B  says in response to Jan:
What a blessing He is !  I hope He know what an inspiration He is and I hope that we will all pray for him as we should!
Jan 12, 2012 8:43 PM Guest Ray A  says:

Amazing situation here -- No negative posts yet, and this one is NOT gonna be negative either!

Ya KNOW Satan's NOT liking Tebow - Let's keep supporting him and the Christian witness with our prayers!

Jan 13, 2012 5:37 AM Guest Ash  says:
wow, talk about inspiration! Hopefully other athletes will follow his example! He doesn't play for himself--he plays for God
Jan 13, 2012 6:09 AM Guest Cindy G  says:

Tim is such an inspiration to our youth and adults! Praise God that his mom raised him loving the Lord and living his faith so opening!

I'm a Steelers fan but it sure is great to watch Tim play! Congratulations on Sunday's win!  Since our Steelers can't be in the Super Bowl. I hope you go all the way!!!

Jan 13, 2012 7:10 AM Guest Lynn  says:
I believe Tim Tebow is a wonderful example of faith and action.  He lives his faith as we are all called to do and he lives it regardless of what kind of hard time he gets from others.  God Bless Him!
Jan 13, 2012 8:21 AM Guest Barbara Y.  says:

Tim Tebow is just what America (and football) needs desperately.  We need heroes who don't see themselves as "above the law" and acting in embarrassing ways that provide poor role models for our children.  My prayer is that Tebow holds true to his faith and that God blesses him abundantly .. not necessarily with a Broncos' winning season, but with whatever brings God the glory and keeps Tebow true to His Lord.

Jan 13, 2012 12:44 PM Guest A Proud American  says in response to Tim S.:
All I can say to Tim S is...AMEN!!!  You ar 100% right.
Jan 13, 2012 1:44 PM Guest DAWN B.  says in response to Tim S.:
Amen. Sometimes we put to much pressure on Christian Athletes. Some people are just waiting for them to mess up so they can point the finger and say what a fake he is. But when he fails, and we all do I pray that Christains will be humble and pray"but for the Grace of God go I" We all fall short of the Glory of God so it is very importatnt for all of us to keep our eyes on Jesus and not expect this young man TO SAVE OUR REPUTATION SO TO SPEAK. Because in a way that is the way alot of people are expecting. We don't need to start a foundation to reach out to the lost and hurting. One reason he is so loved is that HE LOVES THE KIDS BECAUSE THE KIDS ARE LOVEABLE AND HE SEES THEM THE WAY JESUS DOES. HE DOESN'T JUST LOVE THEM TO SAVE THEM AND THEN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PROJECT. EVEN KIDS CAN SPOT THAT A MILE AWAY. HE HAS LEARNED TO REALLY LOVE PEOPLE AND IT SHOWS BECAUSE HE IS KEEPING HIS EYES ON JESUS JUST AS WE SHOULD.       DAWN
Jan 13, 2012 4:15 PM Guest Mary C.  says:

I am no football fan but I have been following Tim Tebow for the last year or so.  It is SO great to see a true Christian athlete who is "walking the talk".  Our young boys need a role model like him--praise God!

Jan 13, 2012 4:15 PM Guest Dawn R.  says:

Keep praying for Tim.  While he continues to do great things for the Lord, don't be naive to the fact that the enemy wants to take him out.

Cover this young man with prayers fellow believers!  Our God is greater!

Jan 13, 2012 6:15 PM Guest Boyd H.  says:
Great Guy,  Great Christian, Great Football Player
Jan 13, 2012 6:44 PM Guest Gloria G.  says:

It is amazing to see this young man bow down boldly and proudly to honor our Lord. But it saddens

me to hear and see the media ridicule and mock him by bowing and bad mouthing him.  If they only

knew that this may be a practice-run for them because, as we know, all will bow down to Him and

proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord!  God bless Tim Tebowow.

Jan 13, 2012 7:28 PM Guest Bill P.  says:

Tim, thanks for staying faithful to the call of God on your life, God is using you and moving in and through you in a way that only he can, stay true to his call on your life.

God bless

Jan 13, 2012 9:27 PM Guest Jill  says:

What a fine young man and what a truly wonderful example for not only the youngsters but for all of us. Others who try to nullify Tim are merely jealous. He is the real thing; what you see is what you get; a good, honest and decent human being. If only our world had more like him. God Bless Tim Tebow.

Jan 14, 2012 4:27 AM Guest Cathy  says:

Incredibly Awesome!!!!!

Jan 14, 2012 9:42 AM Guest Pamela W  says in response to Kerrie R.:
Amen, Kerri.  When we see who we are - and who He is - and where the difference lies, then we can glorify Him in mighty acts that can only be possible via His grace.  I appreciate Tim for shining God's light - may he remain humble and useful for God's kingdom through it all!
Jan 14, 2012 7:28 PM Guest Sandy H  says:

We are thrilled to see Focus on the family during football. We love Tebow too!!! What a refreshing "change"!!

Jan 15, 2012 5:35 PM Guest Mary  says:

It is humbling and inspiring to have a Christian role model for everyone - children and adults.  I have admired Tim for many years and just pray I can be half the role model and Christian that he is.  I will pray that he is able to withstand the negative comments of reporters.

Jan 15, 2012 6:25 PM Guest Harold  says:
I wish more celebrities had the courage to stand up  and profess their belief in GOD
Jan 16, 2012 7:47 AM Guest Linnie  says in response to Tim S.:
Dear Tim S:  As the Lord uses Tim T., he also used Tim S. to inspire me and answer some questions I had.  Well put!  Thank you for reminding me that it's all about glorifying Christ!
Jan 17, 2012 11:28 AM Guest PB  says:

I am the wife of a high school football coach, mother to a player on the team, and "stand-in" mother to some players that live w/us.....I cannot proclaim loudly or often enough the need for role models such as Tim!  I am so grateful for a role-model on the field that knows there is more to life than football....so grateful that there is an athlete that knows he is only who/what he is because his Creator has made it possible....so grateful that he is unashamed about the fact that he is remaining a virgin for the wife God has chosen for him....so dedicated to perfecting his craft because he takes 1 Cor.10:31 seriously (whatever you do, do it for the glory of God).....I'm thankful that Tim understands that, as my husband says..."God doesn't really care about footbal!l---Football is just a tool that HE's given us so that in that we can show others who God is."

Tim is a role model for us all.  We are ALL called to love the unlovable, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give homes to the homeless, take care of the orphans and widows. I pray that Tim's daily testimony remains unscathed and that the devil is unable to tempt him or persuade him into choosing anything less than God's perfect will for his life.  The world is watching and waiting for him to mess up, and we as Christians have so very few role models in the media that walk the walk and talk the talk.....We must be vigilent in our prayers for this man!  I want our boys to continue to watch someone who is SALT and LIGHT to a dark and dying world!

Jan 17, 2012 1:15 PM Guest Angie  says:
Tim is setting the bar high in so many ways.  My daughter, 24 has very high standards in looking for the man she will marry some day.  She often tells me that there are just not too many men out there who really walk the walk.  Her new saying is, I want a Tim Tebow man.  My prayer is that Tim may continue to be a man of God and that others might be challenged to take that bold step of faith in their lives too. We really do need men of courage!
