I Hope You Don't Forget This

Little Fellow

by Shirley MittonRockwellimage1.jpg

There are little eyes upon you,

And they're watching night and day;

There are little ears that quickly take in

Every word you say.

There are little hands all eager

To do every thing you do,

And a little boy who's dreaming

Of the day he'll be like you.

You're the little fellow's idol.

You're the wisest of the wise;

In his little mind about you

No suspicions ever rise.

There's a wide-eyed little fellow

Who believes you're always right;

And his ears are always open

As he watches day and night.

You are setting an example

Every day in all you do

For a little boy who's waiting

To grow up to be like you.

Such a simple poem yet so profound, and so true.  What you say and do in front of your kids every day has such a profound influence on who they decide to be!

This is so true, is there one for little girls?

A reminder to mom's - please don't do what I have done.  Thinking I was trying to "HELP" I played the role of Holy Spirit and criticized my husband for over 20 years.  Telling my boys "this is not what a Christian husband does"  while ALL THE WHILE I WASN'T doing what a christian wife should do....PRAY instead of Complain.  Now I have 6 sons who have interpreted marriage and fatherhood through the eyes of their mother and I fear what that will mean for them in the long run.  I can already see the fear and brokenness in their relationships and I ache the most because I can't take back all the wrong things I've said and done; not only for my own conscience but for the Integrity and Character of each one of the men that will carry on our family name and for those who will follow in their footsteps...if any of them ever find the courage to take the risk of becoming fathers also.  Another part of the picture is how badly we've tarnished our christian reputation and lost so many friends due to me sharing so much grief. Please sisters...don't hurt Jesus and your family the way I have!
