Tim Tebow's "Strange" Priority

Posted by Jim_Daly on Jun 8, 2011 8:59:01 AM

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is out this week promoting his new book, Through My Eyes, an inspiring memoir about his faith, life and, oh yeah, football, too.tebowcover.jpg

The former Florida Heisman Trophy winner's philosophy is wonderfully simple:

Live pure. Work hard. Leave the rest to God.tebow1.jpg

Many of you are aware that Tim and his mother, Pam, starred in Focus on the Family's Super Bowl commercial last year. Pam's decision to defy doctor's orders and carry Tim to term is a dramatic story and one that has inspired other women to reevaluate the wonder and beauty of preborn life. As he prepares to begin his second year in the NFL, the 23 year-old continues to be a constant topic of conversation in the sports media here, with many belittling him for his faith and decision to maintain his virginity until marriage.

Tim was here in Colorado Springs this past weekend signing books. I was out camping with the family and missed seeing him, but his media tour is now in high gear. Interviewers appear genuinely intrigued by the young star. But the other night on the O'Reilly Factor, Tim said something that's created a bit of a buzz here in Colorado, especially within Broncos Nation.

Speaking about last season, Tim told Bill the following:

"My No. 1 focus was on my foundation, the Tim Tebow Foundation, to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in the darkest hour of need."

"Shouldn't Tim Tebow's number one priority be the Denver Broncos?" asked one sports talk show host here in Denver. The phones lit up.

Most callers to the Broncos flagship radio station, Denver's 850 KOA, expressed support for the quarterback, with one gentleman suggesting he'd rather Tim's top priority be his foundation rather than the typical priorities of an NFL player - bling, bars and out-of-wedlock births.

Zing.tebowsuperbowl.jpg

I think most of us understand that Tim isn't suggesting that his career with the Broncos is a part-time endeavor. He's committed to the team and will give 100% to the task at hand. Tim's level of commitment and dedication is astounding.  I'll take his effort any day. And besides, we know Tim wasn't speaking literally in this instance, anyway, for no other reason than that he has long said the Lord, not his foundation, is really his top priority. But Tim is getting at a very key and important thing. There is more to life than football, and frankly, it's refreshing to hear a football star say so.

But let me ask you: priorities.jpg

Would your boss be upset if you told him or her that your job wasn't your top priority? If they would, I might suggest that you start looking for another job. Personally, I wouldn't want to work for anyone who thinks a job is more important than my faith and my family.

Most importantly, how are you prioritizing your life? It's easy to say that you're putting God and then your family at the top of your list, but would your spouse and kids agree? Do your actions reflect your words?

Summer officially begins in two weeks. Before your schedule gets away from you, plan some time off to spend with the family. It doesn't have to be a two-week trip to Disneyland. Home can be the happiest place on earth.

But getting back to our favorite quarterback, does Tim’s comment strike you as refreshingly "strange" when compared with today's cultural norms? What are your thoughts on Tim Tebow?

Jun 8, 2011 2:04 PM Guest Steven B.  says:
I have four boys, all athletic and enjoy sports. Tim Tebow is the most admired and talked about athlete in my family. Looking forward to getting his book for my boys. May GOD continue to bless Tim Tebow.
Jun 8, 2011 2:17 PM Guest Kathleen  says:
Finally a football star my son can (and does) look up to. Don't let us down, Tim. You are giving a voice to those young men of faith and honor who want to live godly lives and still excel in sports.
Jun 8, 2011 2:57 PM Guest Pat F  says:

Absolutely AWESOME & REFRESHING !!!!!!!! Be Blessed Tim Tebow ,&stay strong !!

Jun 8, 2011 3:20 PM Guest Cassie J  says:

I truly admire Tim Tebow, and praise God for the great example Tim provides Christian boys/young men.

One of the top reasons I am still with my employer (I've "grown up" here) is because the President has always understood & supported me in making my family (including my church family) a high priority.  Of course, I my work is a priority in my life -- it's been more than just a job -- but my family's needs come before work.

I think Tim's prioritizing his foundation is just a reflection of his #1 focus, which is God & the life God has called him to live.  May the Lord continue to bless Tim & his foundation, and his career.  And may He continue to bless Focus on the Family.

Jun 8, 2011 4:26 PM Guest Ashley  says:

Beyond refreshing...I pray he remains true to his faith always!

Jun 8, 2011 4:30 PM Guest Dale  says in response to Kathleen:

Kathleen,

I'm sure you didn't mean what you said about Tim not letting you down.  Tim is a mere mortal, and should not be put in that position by anyone.  What would you do if Tim did fall in his quest to remain celibate until marriage?  Would that change your mind about him?  Would it cause you or your children to lose hope in Christ?  I hope not!  As I said, I'm sure you really didn't mean what you said, but I needed to encourage you to keep your eyes on "the One" who is worthy of all of our praise!  That is Jesus Christ, and not Tim Tebow.

Jun 8, 2011 4:46 PM Guest Norm M.  says:
Tim needs solid prayers now more than ever, obviously all of the attention will come with such attacks from the enemy we simply cannot appreciate.  Tim like all of will face his own share of suffering.  Pray, pray, and pray that God's will be done in and through Tim's remarkable life.
Jun 8, 2011 4:44 PM Guest Mary L  says:
I'm not an avid football viewer. I heard Tim's story through you.  It seems to me that Tim simply understands "choice" at a deeper level than many.  I think he's strengthened by the choice his mother made in a challenging situation particulary in a time when the alternative would have been accepted by many.  The choices my parents made, their example, has had a profound and beautiful impact on my life.  Like many of us, I think he dedicates himself in the moment.  When I am working, I focus there.  My dedication to God and my family are not diminished by that.  Faith frees us to bring more of ourselves to every situation.  Smart choice by the Broncos!
Jun 8, 2011 4:52 PM Guest Georgia  says:
A breath of fresh air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jun 8, 2011 4:54 PM Guest Jim  says:
I am now 74 years old and happily retired.  Over my working lifetime, I have held 10 jobs and ran my own business.  None of those ten jobs or my own business was ever first in my life.  God was always first, followed by my wife and children.  I have had a very successful life.
Jun 8, 2011 4:58 PM Guest Ginger  says:
As a woman I love watching most sports.  Personally I think the whole sports thing is over-rated & over-paid.  For any one to read more into what Tim stated shows what's really their prioroity.  The Denver Broncos have seen the dedication this young man showed through his entire college career and if they can't see what a truly outstanding individual he is, perhaps another team  (and many others) and many others would love having him.  Being a top sports figure doesn't mean he has to compromise what he feels is important.  Those who are critizing him should take a BIG step back and look in the mirror and admit what their priority is.
Jun 8, 2011 5:06 PM Guest Robert B.  says:
Thank the Lord for his words and actions in such a "secular" field of work. It is so wonderful to hear this rather than the usual diatribe about money, materialism and what's in it for me attitude. Many other athletes spout images but later we hear of revelations involving scandals. Hope Tim's name becomes a usual household topic of conversation and an example to all the youth looking for an example to follow. As Christ uses Tim we can be assured it be will be all for the glory of the Father!
Jun 8, 2011 5:04 PM Guest Tom  says:
Tim's words are an inspiration for everyone and if everyone had the same focus -- faith and family, the world would change for the better.  I ask that we all pray for those that don't have that same focus and make sure to check ourselves to ensure we are truly exemplifying what we are preaching.
Jun 8, 2011 5:06 PM Guest Ron  says:
Tim, you're the man. Keep on keepin' the faith, brother!
Jun 8, 2011 5:08 PM Guest Elisabeth  says in response to Steven B.:
Right with you, Steven!  I have 7 boys ages 25-5.  It was the 25 year old who even told me about Mr. Tebow. (3-4years ago.) Last week he put a picture on my screen saver of Tim in a Superman suit.  When the youngest got Superman Jammies he said, 'Super man wears Tim Tebow jammies.'

No, we do not elevate him nearly where CHRIST THE LORD is for our family.  But, he is a bright spot in today's sports world.  So grateful he has his head screwed on right and the heart is alive in Christ.~

The 12 year old just walked into the room, and I asked him what he liked best about Tim Tebow.  He came over and read Mr. Daly's blog post and said, "He is amazing." (We have always reserve the word "AWESOME" for the Triune God!)
Jun 8, 2011 5:11 PM Guest Rodger  says:
Let's just pray that he surpasses Lady Gaga in online popularity!
Jun 8, 2011 5:18 PM Guest Diane  says:
It is refreshing and encouraging to see a "big star" like Tim Tebow speaking clearly and truthfully about what is important to him, and not sugar coating his faith walk. I would pray to be so bold!
Jun 8, 2011 5:18 PM Guest J.J.  says:
A good boss will recognize that ALL we involve ourselves with makes up who we are.  If pursuing the Foundation, living a life of excellence and being upfront with his priorities rather than revealing them to only certain audiences makes him a great ball player and/or doesn't take away from his God-given talent, he should be encouraged to lead by example.
Jun 8, 2011 5:20 PM Guest Sharon  says:
Football is a temporary opportunity. Influencing other lives for an eternity with the Lord is an everlasting opportunity. Obviously Tim Tebow has his priorities in order.
Jun 8, 2011 5:36 PM Guest Kolburt S.  says:
The evangelical community has been missing the presence of athletic superstars Reggie White and David Robinson ever since their respective retirements from professional sports.  It is nice to see that we have a talented athlete who is willing to stand up for his beliefs, and perhaps, fill the void left by White and Robinson.
Jun 8, 2011 5:43 PM Guest JP S.  says:
Thank God for Tim Tebow- a voice of reason in a very lost, very dark world. It's my prayer that my 20 year old daughter will date and marry a godly man like Tim.
Jun 8, 2011 5:36 PM Guest Natalie  says:
AWESOME!   Our youth need more role models like Tim Tebow!  The beauty of faith is that you don't need the acceptance of the "media"... you have the Lord.
Jun 8, 2011 5:39 PM Guest Rebekah  says:

Indeed, any organization should prefer that any employee's faith and family is priority over their job.  This gives that person a right purpose to do his or her best to provide for their family.  Thus, a dependable person of integrity for the job at hand.

Tim Tebow?  Definitely a refreshing perspective!   He glorifies the LORD ~ may He bless Tim in all his efforts.

Jun 8, 2011 5:49 PM Guest Elizabeth G.  says in response to Kolburt S.:
Tim Tebow has his head on straight, and it is refreshing to listen to a young man who puts the Lord first in his life.  That will not diminish his commitment to doing a good job when playing football.  "Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it..." Ps 127:1(a).
Jun 8, 2011 5:48 PM Guest roberto  says in response to Kolburt S.:
I think it is great. We need to pray for someone like this young man. The devil is not happy with someone that lifts up the name of Jesus and means it.
Jun 8, 2011 5:50 PM Guest JK  says:

To a true born-again, Spirit-filled, Spirit-led believer in Jesus Christ, this should not be "strange" or abnormal.  This should be the norm as a Christian.  It's not Tim's values, morals and priorities that are "strange" and at question here but rather this upside down culture that we live in and its lack of values, morals and priorities.  As far as role models, it begins at home.  God never intended for children to have to look to any person outside of their home for godly examples and leadership.  The father's responsibility to his family is to be the visible representation (to the best of his ability) in his home of the invisible Father in heaven.  And ultimately we MUST teach them to "Look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith..." Heb. 12:2  The Greek tense of the word 'looking' means to fix the mind upon because everyone else is incapable of perfection.  We simply strive for it, Jesus is perfecion personified.

As far a his (Tim's) career or any other believer's for that matter, God does expect us to work but He REQUIRES that we worship!  I believe that our work life finds its meaning and fulfillment and flows out of a vibrant worship life.

Which explains why Tim has been chase in the midst of I'm sure, many opportunities to compromise and give into the pressures of promiscuity.  His ability to remain "pure" is a result of being "purified" by his worship unto God.

I know I've said a lot, but it's extremely important that we don't just talk about our faith, but live it, as brother Tim and hopefully all of us on this blog are doing and demonstrate it in living color to a culture who's vision has been badly impared through the relentless onslaughts of secular-humanism.

Jun 8, 2011 5:52 PM Guest Brady  says:
Yes sir, God first, so often I do forget and glad Tim has reminded many of us that life is God, family and making a living to provide for the family. Praise the lord ! and may God bless us everyone!
Jun 8, 2011 5:53 PM Guest Lynnette  says:
Hi,  Tim has his priorities straight!  God bless him!
Jun 8, 2011 5:55 PM Guest Marilyn T  says:
When my son Jason went to college at the University of Florida, I prayed he would make friends that would be good influences. God answered that prayer a hundredfold by putting Jason in a class with Tim, his idol. Not only that, but they were study partners and often walked together between classes. Jason saw how genuine Tim is, and his influence has made a difference in my son's life. I only pray that Tim's commitment to God will someday rub off on Jason as well.
Jun 8, 2011 6:01 PM Guest Sharon  says:
I am thankful for the Godly example Tim is setting for the world. Keep up the good work!
Jun 8, 2011 6:12 PM Guest John W.  says:
Atypical is a better word than "Strange."  And for those who question what importance he places on the game itself, they need to think back on his college QB days.  That should remove any question about the "earthly" focus where his sport specialty is concerned.  He's got his spiritual aim tightly honed.  We know his pigskin aim parallels that.
Jun 8, 2011 6:13 PM Guest rhonda f.  says:
Tim Tebow is where he is, because God has chosen for him to be there. " When we seek first the kingdom......." !
Jun 8, 2011 6:13 PM Guest Barbara Y.  says:
Tim is the kind of young man any mother would love to have as a son-in-law, respectful and committed, with a heart for God. He reflects the light of Jesus wherever he goes which is very refreshing in today's world! God bless his boldness and strengthen him in his daily walk.
Jun 8, 2011 7:22 PM Guest Janet S.  says:

I did hear him on Bill OReilly and was totally wowed by his comments.  Honestly, began to wonder if there were any genuine believers around.  What a testimony!  Praise God.  Wish my 19 yr. old daughter could have heard his words.

Jun 8, 2011 7:23 PM Guest TominS.  says:
It is very refreshing to hear an NFL player to actually say that football isn't the ONLY thing in life that is important.  Tim's comment should make people sit up and listen and reflect on what is most important in their own lives.  God Bless Tim!
Jun 8, 2011 6:21 PM Guest David  says:
I have not watched a pro football game (or any other pro sport) in 15 years. I grew tired of the "look at me" primaddona, garbage that is so prevalant. As a high school wrestling coach, I use sports to reach young men and give them a focus in life and a definition of manhood that does not include sex, alcohol, drugs or any other standard that this world thinks makes a man. Tebow is a very refreshing, new perspective and perhaps my cynicism is unwarranted and I may become a Broncos fan....again. Good work young man! God bless you!
Jun 8, 2011 6:21 PM Guest Jim R  says:
We need to support Tim with our sincere prayers.  Although he is a strong and courageous man, the pressure on him is greater than most of us will ever know.  May God strengthen and uphold him as he tries to be a great role model for all of us, young and old.
Jun 8, 2011 6:25 PM Guest Kevin  says:

Go Tim!  ...think I'm quickly becoming a Bronco's fan!  Thanks for being someone with integrity playing the sport...very refreshing!

Jun 8, 2011 10:17 PM Guest Lisa H  says:
What a refreshing young man is Tim Tebow, I wish we had more like him. The Denver Broncos are very lucky to have such a young man as he, if not I know of a team in Dallas that would love him.  Fans in Dallas would love him as well.
Jun 8, 2011 6:28 PM Guest ELAINE  says:
I THINK IT'S REFRESHING TO HEAR A FOOTBALL STAR LIKE TIM, TELL PEOPLE WITHOUT RESERVATION HIS BELIEFS. WOULDN'T IT BE AWESOME IF ALL PLAYERS IN ALL SPORTS FELT LIKE HE DOES?WHAT AN AMAZING EXAMPLE HE IS  FOR US ALL. WAY TO GO TIM!
Jun 8, 2011 6:29 PM Guest Pat  says:

In the last position that I held I was as an office manager in a Physicians office and yes they would agree that it was ok that my first priority was serving the Lord because that also indicates that whatever work you do is done as "working for the Lord".  The world can not recognize or accept that there are true Christians out there.  Some of that is due to people claiming to be or even who really believe that they are but they are not truly living for Christ.

Let's all pray that more Christians show Glory to God and give a great testimony Him.to.  That is what we are here for.

God Bless Tim Tebow and all of you.

Jun 8, 2011 6:31 PM Guest Hilda  says:

Well, I am very proud of Timmy (as our family calls him!).  I am a mother of four, three girls, one son and we began following his career back when he was in college.  My husband was also an excellent college football player and really respected Timmy's faith, boldness and work ethic.  We began praying for him at that time and even teased our 20 year old (nursing student) daughter about what a nice match they would be i.e., faith, missions, character, family, etc.    We still pray for him.   Such a strong man of faith, very impressive and encouraging.  Really enjoyed the Focus on the Family commercial of him and his mom, also.   Jim, great article!

Jun 8, 2011 10:20 PM Guest Joe L.  says:
In this day and age when parents are putting such a high emphasis on their children's sports career, compromising the most important part of life, commitment to a personal relationship with God.  It is refreshing and admirable to see someone like Tim set a prime example of what commitment, integrity, and Godly living is all about.  And that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him
Jun 8, 2011 6:34 PM Guest MBC  says:

Vince Lombardi, one of the greatest football coaches, had this to say about priorities.  He told his team "Think of only three things: your God, your family and the Green Bay Packers-in that order".  Tim Tebow has his priorities correct.

Jun 8, 2011 6:40 PM Guest Joy  says:
My husband works in finance for a Fortune 500 company.  Last year, he did tell his boss that his family was priority over the job and that he wouldn't be putting in unnecessary time at the office, in the name of "face-time".  You would think he grew another head by his boss' response and, now that they're outsourcing a portion of the finance department to India, my husband was recently notified that his job would be ending sometime next year.  We are okay with it, as God has been working on both our hearts lately to do something (as yet unnamed) to His glory, but we are assured that He will take care of our family and are determined to be obedient to His call.
Jun 8, 2011 10:35 PM Guest Jean Y.  says in response to Barbara Y.:
I pray God's hand continues to hold tim close.
Jun 8, 2011 6:44 PM Guest Mary C.  says:
How refreshing to hear what most Americans born post WWll have forgotten, or have never actually learned; that faith and relationships are the most important thing we'll ever be & do in this world.
Jun 8, 2011 10:35 PM Guest Sarah C.  says:

Back in the day, when my husband was bi-vocational (ministry and corporate America) he had a sign in his office that read, "This job is not my source." He was quite plain that he was a minister who worked there.  He was well liked and known as a "local call" (to God). When the time came to go to Africa as a missionary, his manager went out of his way to make sure he got a great package. People wept openly. It was really a wow moment. Thank you, Jesus.

Jun 8, 2011 10:38 PM Guest Del C.  says:

I think Tim has all his ducks in a proper row. My frist priority is to God, through faith in Jesus Christ, second is my family. God formed the family, the building block of all civil organizations. If we don't have strong families all of society suffers with a systemic weakness. Third, is my church or faith community. Last is my, or as I am now retired, was my employment which provided the means to facilitate my service to God, support of my family and church.

The last job I had was gained at the age of 60 and was with a company where the mean age was mid 20's. The company's vice president was my final interviewer for the position. He asked why I believed I should have this job over others, as there were more applicants than positions available, and why I believed I could preform according to the companies standards. I told him I did not consider my age to be a negative factor, but a positive factor and that I could bring many years of experience to apply to the company's benefit. As far as their standards I told him I certainly felt I could achieve those as I had a greater standard to which I strived than his company had. He asked what that was and I told him my work was dedicated to God's glory and I had always worked to serve Him.

I was hired and succeeded way beyond even what I thought I would. In addition I became an unofficial chaplain to several hundred employees. If there was a need brought to my attention I was excused to render counsel, prayer, or other assistance. As my work was always done and I was in the top 5% performance levels there was never a question about it.

So, yes, I would hire Tim with full belief that he would fill his post beyond my greatest expectations. Certainly there are those who would refuse to hire me or him, but that would be their loss and it would be clear that God had better plans for our lives.

Jun 8, 2011 6:57 PM Guest Pam  says in response to Barbara Y.:
May God continue to be glorified by Tim's life, and may many young men be drawn into His kingdom by Tim's example.  Thank you Tim for walking the narrow road, and thank you Father for working in his & his mom's life.
Jun 8, 2011 6:57 PM Guest Tanya B.  says:
This is what a real role model is all about.  Keeping it real while keeping his eyes, heart, and soul on the prize of the high calling of Christ and living it, not just speaking it.  Our prayers are that he never loses that focus throughout his career. Sadly, this should NOT be considered strange.
Jun 8, 2011 10:41 PM Guest Rebecca H.  says:
Tim Tebow is indeed refreshing and inspiring in his understanding of the what really matters and his courage to live his beliefs.
Jun 8, 2011 10:42 PM Guest Ta P.  says in response to Barbara Y.:

I heard Tim speak at a meeting in Dallas in March and met him after.  He is a young man of integrity who is speaking out boldly for the right things.  He is the real deal and he loves the Lord, his family and is a wonderful role model for others.  Thanks Tim for who you are in Christ.

Jun 8, 2011 7:02 PM Guest Bob  says in response to Dale:

Actually Dale, I am sure Kathleen meant exactly what she said: "Don't let us down Tim."  I too would encourage Tim to be faithful to the Godly standards of conduct he has set for himself.  Does that mean Kathleen or I or anyone expects him to lead a perfect, sinless life?  Of couse not!  But his life has been a testimony to the world of what a Christian man should and can be and I pray it will continue to be so.

To Tim: may you be like Paul, who wrote near the end of his life, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Jun 8, 2011 10:44 PM Guest Joeli J. B.  says:
it just shows the state of the world we live in that the media and some of the general public would be shocked to hear of a young man with actual values and morals. when did corruption become such the norm that people are surprised by faith and morals? i pray continued blessings, happiness, and health for young mr. tebow. (please forgive the lack of capital letters - keyboard issues.)
Jun 8, 2011 7:10 PM Guest Nancy  says:
Thrilled to hear Tim Tebow's comments.  what an inspiration to our kids.  we support him 100%.
Jun 8, 2011 7:16 PM Guest Luana  says in response to Rebekah:
Ditto!  Very well said, Rebekah.
Jun 8, 2011 7:16 PM Guest Ron  says:

VERY REFRESHING!!! If everyone was as committed to God with their priorities in the same order as Tim's, this country and the world would have so many less problems!!

God bless you, Tim, for taking THE RIGHT stand!!!

Jun 8, 2011 7:20 PM Guest Bob  says in response to JK:
To JK:  Yes you said a lot, but it was on target.  I would amend or maybe add to one thing you said.  You are right that our children should have a Godly role model at home and not need to look elsewhere for that person.  The reality, however, is that most children in this world do not grow up in a home where God is present in any significant way.  It is for the sake of those children and young people that we should rejoice when a Tim Tebow comes along.  And we should pray for him and for his testimony to the world.  God be with Tim!
Jun 8, 2011 10:49 PM Guest Tempie C.  says:
way to go Tebow, praise God, now this is a real man of God! I thank the Lord for the example, I pray that he would continue to raise the banner of the Lord
Jun 8, 2011 7:25 PM Guest Violet B.  says:
Tim is a breath of fresh air in the NFL with the flashy materialism and bad behavior so typical of highly paid athletes.  Of course, many of the good athletes that are quiet and well behaved are also not "news worthy", so they may be getting a bad rap.  I also agree if putting God and family first upsets your employer, find another job.  How wonderful to hear Tim profess his faith in God openly.  I hope he stays brave enough to say "Jesus" as well as "God".
Jun 8, 2011 10:50 PM Guest Deanna C.  says:
Tim is right, the Lord is to be first then other things. God bless and use him for His honor and glory!
Jun 8, 2011 7:41 PM Guest KCNE  says:
I applaud any (young) person who thinks of others first, wants to remain pure and has their priorities straight...especially someone in the public eye.  Way to go!  We need positive role models for kids...men and women of integrity who are not caught up in the money or fame that this world offers.  I look forward to reading his book...and watching him play football, of course. : )
Jun 8, 2011 7:53 PM Guest Lori  says:
I am a huge fan of Tim Tebow. With so many high profile men making huge mistakes for all the world to see lately, I appreciate a man who has his priorities straight! God bless him and I hope he has this public platform for a long time. However, Tim is HUMAN and a sinner, forgiven, but still a sinner. I hope if he were to ever mess up, it would not cause us to take our eyes off our Savior, where they should always be!
Jun 8, 2011 10:58 PM Guest Jerry S.  says:

What I think does not matter. What matters is that this young man has taken these words to heart:

"Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. - 1 Peter 4:1-5 (ESV)

Right on, Tim! Stick to your guns and continue to live your faith.

Jerry

Jun 8, 2011 10:59 PM Guest Ron B.  says:
When a person focuses on faith in God, love and hope, he becomes more effective in all areas of life. Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you.
Jun 8, 2011 8:00 PM Guest Dawn  says:
Tim is extremely mature in his faith for his age. It's because his background is firmly rooted in true unwavering Christian faith. God has big plans for Tim. He has a plan for all of us. It's just that through the platform of America's #1 watched sport he can share the love of God and inspire tons of people to look toward God for their purpose in life. God has elevated Tim to this level to be ultra effective for Him. To reach people in a very relevent and real way. How many people looked up John 3:16 when he put it on his eyeblack?? Wasn't it some kind of record for Google?? He never had to open his mouth and he reached that many people because he is not intimidated by anything or anyone the enemy throws at him. He will reach many for Christ, maybe even more than the warrior Billy Graham!
Jun 8, 2011 8:06 PM Guest Adam G  says:
Hopefully, Tim's idea of putting Faith, Family, and even his Foundation, ahead of Football will prove to be contageous.  We need more positive role models for our kids.
Jun 8, 2011 8:10 PM Guest Dave  says:

I told my business partners that our architectural firm was no longer my highest priority, and I would no longer live at the office.  That was said after years of starting at 6AM and leaving between 8PM and midnight (5-6 days/week).

They didn't like that at all, though my wife and kids did.  After several years of only 125% effort and being the top income producer, my partners "pushed" me out of the firm.

In a couple of days, it will be 4-1/2 years without steady work or unemployment.  However, God has provided the money for our expenses and the time for my wife, three teenage children and church.

The day before I told my partners that I would be throttling back on my work hours and changing the priorities in my life, God told me that He was the one who took care of me, not the senior partner in the firm.  I trusted God and my relationship with my business partners soured immediately, but my family is thriving.  It didn't look like it at first, but after the dust settled, it was obvious who kept his promise.  It wasn't my former partner.

Yeah God!

Jun 8, 2011 11:02 PM Guest Jennifer W.  says:
If he weren't being verbally attached by the secular world, he wouldn't be the Tim Tebow I've come to admire for having tremendous faith in God and not being afraid to shout it to the world.
Jun 8, 2011 8:18 PM Guest lisa  says:
Yay, Tim! And Yay, God....for blessing this remarkable young man whom, because of his fame & success, will have an impact on many young people today for Him! I will pray that Tim finds a godly young woman with whom to share his life...he is an inspiration!
Jun 8, 2011 8:19 PM Guest Tkay  says:
Tim has his priorities in perfect order...God is No. 1 and should be No. 1.  Every breath we take and every gift we have comes from God.  With God being No. 1 in Tim's life, things will go well for him...every athlete should look to Tim...what a wonderful role model for our children!!!  Thank YOU, Jesus, for Tim Tebow, Your faithful servant.  Things will go well for the Denver Broncos with this leader who puts God first and foremost!
Jun 8, 2011 8:21 PM Guest Dennis  says:
I do not know of a better role model or a better Christian athelete than Tim. It would be outstanding for any boy or young man to have Tim as their favorite role model. The critics never seem to give an outspoken Christian athelete a fair apprasial, but Tim has the talent and drive to be an outstanding athelete anyway. To God be the glory.
Jun 8, 2011 11:09 PM Guest Brad W.  says in response to Dale:
well said Dale.
Jun 8, 2011 11:10 PM Guest Eleanor V.  says:
Tim is a great inspiration and God Bless him for being a great witness to other young men and women . Thanks for standing up for Jesus in your work and play!
Jun 8, 2011 8:32 PM Guest Adam  says:
It is refreshing to my spirit to read something like this where a professional athlete has his biggest focus on Christ.  I pray Tim will keep his eye on The One and will be an inspiration and example to us all and his many fans, especially youth.
Jun 8, 2011 8:36 PM Guest Kristin  says in response to Kathleen:
When I see the part of the comment, "Don't let us down, Tim," I think we should realize how much spiritual attack Tim may be under and how important it is to pray for him.  Satan would love to see him fall.
Jun 8, 2011 8:38 PM Guest Pam  says:

Tim,

I am a Mother and Grandmother. All children need people that they can admire and want to be like. I am very proud of you for your stand in your faith and morals. We need a lot more people with that in their lives to be examples for children and adults alike. "We need not only people in the spot light like yourself but also people everywhere in different walks of life.

Thanks and God Bless, Pam

Jun 8, 2011 8:47 PM Guest Paul  says:

Very Refreshing to hear this mans outlook.

Go Tim Go!!!

Jun 8, 2011 11:13 PM Guest Sheryl P.  says:
I agree with Norm: we must pray for Tim.  The evil one will most likely try to attack him and bring him down.  Look at what he did to Mel Gibson (please pray for him, too!).  Tim is a wonderful role model for our youth -- there are so few out there whom our kids can look up to.  May God continue to bless Tim and his mother, Pam.
Jun 8, 2011 8:50 PM Guest Amanda  says:
Tim Tebow's faith and values are very refreshing, and a reminder of what is truly important!
Jun 8, 2011 8:54 PM Guest Chaz B  says:
I've been a Gator fan all my life & now a Broncos fan, and I'm so grateful for a role model & Godly man like Tim Tebow.  Thank you Lord, for sending us someone we can be proud of on and off the field and who our children can look to for good values.  You go Tim, we support your Foundation all the way!!!
Jun 8, 2011 11:15 PM Guest Skip T.  says:

What an inspirational story!!!!    May God keep him on this fantastic journey as many lives are changed.  Thank you Tim for being a great role model.  God Bless

Jun 8, 2011 9:09 PM MBC MBC    says:

Tim Tebow is not alone in his priority ranking.  The legendary Green Bay Packer coach Vince Lombardi told his team, “Think of only three things: your God, your family and the Green Bay Packers-in that order.”

Jun 8, 2011 9:15 PM Guest Melissa  says:
Love, Love, Love Tim Tebow and all he stands for!
Jun 8, 2011 9:20 PM Guest Jan M.  says:

Finally a role model in the Denver Bronco Camp

A dedicated athlete children can actually look up to

Will Tim Tebow be back in Colorado Springs to autograph his book?

Jun 8, 2011 11:18 PM Guest Herb B.  says:
Tim, you have your priorities right....and you are obviously unashamed of Jesus.  Regardless of what happens in terms of your performance on the football field, the Lord is looking at what we do on the "everyday of living life" field and you're obviously allowing your position to be used for God's glory...that is what matters the most!   Thanks for your example.
Jun 8, 2011 9:23 PM Guest Maria T.  says in response to Janet S.:
Try to find the interview on the website of the show. It's fairly recent, so it should be there. Don't force your daughter to watch, but just suggest it and encourage her...watch it with her, open up a dialogue. Most importantly, pray.
Jun 8, 2011 9:38 PM Guest Jen R  says:
What a wonderful role model this man is!  His honor, faith in God and honesty about real priorities and not what others think they should be is a testiment to 'living pure'.  I sure hope my girls wait and find a Godly man like Tim one day.
Jun 8, 2011 11:20 PM Guest k l  says:

completely agree with tim and so refreshing to hear a 'star' think such things.  usually it's just the 'common' people who realize the importance of God and family.

so proud to have a husband who does not put work at the top of the list.  God has honored that tremedously in our family and has blessed us beyond belief!  Go Tim Tebow!

Jun 8, 2011 9:56 PM Guest Richard D.  says:
Tim my prayers are with you. You are using your God given talents to glorify the Father in a occupation that is frought with worldly influences. May He continue to give you the strength you need to fulfill your calling. My wife faced a similiar birth as far as termination due to her age  but her mom would not listen to them. Our second child we were told to terminate due to her blood disorder, he graduated from high school two weeks ago. Always a Giant fan but quickly becoming A fan of the Denver Broncos. Thanks for your witness and courage Tim.
Jun 8, 2011 11:21 PM Guest Jennifer V.  says:
I can only hope & pray that we are raising our boys to have the same priorities as Tim.  It is so refreshing to have someone like him for boys to look up to today.  I love him (& the Broncos!) & I wish him all the best in his life & endeavors.
Jun 8, 2011 10:05 PM Guest Tammy  says:
I'm not into football, but I would definetly wear a shirt w/his name on it. What a great role model for not just kids, but everyone!
Jun 8, 2011 10:09 PM Guest Mathew  says in response to TominS.:
As we are facing a "drought" and "desert" of true role-models in sports arena, Tim is a "refreshing Oasis" for our generation to resort to. Go, Tim, Go! We stand with you. We will share your "shame" of remaining pure until marriage. Our Lord despised the shame and fulfilled His mission. May you, Tim, produce many other Tims through your exemplary life!
Jun 8, 2011 11:30 PM Guest Pastor T.  says:
As a former federal employee, a former boss (now retired), and founder of Church@Work (a workplace celebration of worship of Christ), I insist that our priorities be aligned with the Bible: Christ 1st, spouse 2nd, Spirit-led priorities 3rd (almost always work at work times, family at family times, ministry at ministry times, etc.).  My employees following these priorities were always more productive and less problematic than others.  They were less distracted at work because they had less problems at home and were more focused on work at work times.  They were also more inspired in their performance, nearly always excelling beyond their peers.  If Tim follows these same priorities, he will be honoring God, satisfied and at peace at home, and excelling at work, i.e. as a quarterback for Denver.  I happen to know personally that this has worked well for Drew Brees, LaDamien Tomlinson, Bob Griese, and a number of others in the NFL.  Both the Bronchos organization and the team members will be blessed as a result.
Jun 8, 2011 10:17 PM Guest Tina  says in response to JK:
Thank you, JK!  Our eyes need to be focused on Him~Christ Jesus!
Jun 8, 2011 10:21 PM Guest Veronica  says:

Yes it is refreshingly strange! Especially when you have other athletes out there who's only goal is to be a billionaire and win a championship, any way he can, even if it means breakin a city's heart(yes, I'm talking about LeBron haha).

Such a great example!!

And Jim R. is right, we need to pray for Tim! : )

Jun 8, 2011 11:32 PM Guest Frank E.  says:
Everyone's in love with Tim Tebow. Remember he's human. He'll make mistakes like you and me. Look up to Tim. Worship God.
Jun 8, 2011 10:25 PM Guest Jim N  says:
Thank you to Tim Tebow for putting first thing first, God said that we shall not have any other gods before Him. Tim will now be part of my daily prayer list.
Jun 8, 2011 10:32 PM Guest Kim S.  says:
Just heard someone speak yesterday about the difference in our "calling" and our "passion"(what we love).  They said our "calling" was usually what is in our hand..... what we can do.  Our passion is what we love.  The key is to find the place where the two can co-exist.  Tim Tebow has done just that.  My husband's job is not his #1 priority.  He loves his job and does a great job at his job and is committed to his work.  It's his calling and it is one of the priorities in his life.  He has many other passions, some of which are more of a priority as far as the importance that they hold in his HEART.  I'm certian that's what Tim Tebow meant when he said what he said.
Jun 8, 2011 11:34 PM Guest Billie T.  says:

Praise God for men such as Tim Tebow. I totally agree with his remark, that the Lord God is his foundation( and mine too, First of all !) ------and that should bring honor and praise to God and his fellow football teamates.

Again, thanks Tim Tebow, for your boldness for Jesus. I agree with you.

Jun 9, 2011 6:28 AM Guest Karen E.  says:
I watched that interview on The O'Reilly Factor with Tim Tebow!  What a blessing to the massive number of people watching, to hear Tim's testimony of his faith in Jesus.  Keep On Keeping On For Jesus Christ.  I want to get the book for my hubby for Father's Day.  He knew your father while in seminary with him!
Jun 8, 2011 10:46 PM Guest Rob in Oregon  says:
Many in the "elitist" media will probably ridicule what they can't (or won't) understand.  To them I would offer that: Tim may be judged by many as a success or failure based upon his performance on the football field. However, I believe that he is already, and with God's grace will continue to be, a success a human being. God Bless him.
Jun 8, 2011 10:53 PM Guest Smokey  says:
I wish that MORE athletes would take a stand like Tim's !! There are SO many children who look up to people like athletes, firefighters, police officers, etc.,(I'm in law enforcement and my wife is an EMT)  and so FEW that take a stand for Jesus and are not ashamed to say so !!!  I see in my line of work sooooooo many children who have to take "care of themselves" for the most part and the parents just want "whats in it for me." I feel sorry for these children and it makes me spend that much MORE time calling our adult son and taking time up with our 6 year old daughter.. God bless you Tim..keep it up Pal and maybe some others will take up your lead and follow along !!
Jun 9, 2011 6:30 AM Guest Bill C.  says:

Tim's "shocking" admission is so far removed from our culture's postmodern perspective that I'm not at all surprised about the uproar.  It's also the same reason our society is no longer proud of their American "roots", and fails to comprehend the clear meaning and purpose of the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or the many personal testimonies of our forefathers' boldly stated reliance on their Creator.

Tim, you are such a breath of fresh air in the sports world.  I've become so used to philandering, drug use, arrests for assault...you name it...many sports stars are such deplorable examples for our youth, who so admire athletes.

You make Christian parents so proud.  My only wish is that other well known believers, who timidly hide their faith, will "come out" to show the world, and especially our kids, that being a follower of Jesus as their most important life focus.

God bless you Tim...and just know that many pray for you and know that your voice and actions will have a powerful impact on our society!!

Jun 8, 2011 11:08 PM Guest matt  says in response to Dale:
Have to comment to Dale who was trying to encourage Kathleen in a strange way-Dale, why would the apostle Paul tell people to imitate him?  "Imitate me as I imitate Christ" 1 Cor 11:1. It is always easier for us mortals to see God's character in His children than to abstractly "imagine what would Jesus do".  Jesus didn't play football and wasn't constantly surrounded by woman trying to get his money.  Tebow is a man, but for many young people, when they see someone who  is like how they would like to be-they will ALWAYS look up to them.  If Paul was a good example of how to live out the christian life-imitate me.  If Tim T is living out his Christian life in real way- imitate him.  We follow people not because they are people but becuase they are following Christ. I hope  more families would encourage him to be strong.
Jun 9, 2011 6:37 AM Guest Dave B.  says:

When 'Jim Daly' asks, "Do your actions reflect your words?,"  we know that Jim wasn't speaking literally in this instance.  We all know that those actions which we get paid for (like playing a violent game, or writing about Godliness to sell books) should have nothing to do with who we are "as Christians."

Could someone please point me to the place in the Bible where it says that our life and our employment should be separate?

Jun 9, 2011 6:37 AM Guest Sharon W.  says:

Gotta love this guy! Sounds like his priorities are spot on. Bravo!

Jun 9, 2011 12:03 AM Guest Rich  says in response to Billie T.:
Tim is using the wisdom God has given him.  When Tim's priority is his relationship with Jesus.....God takes care of everything else incuding the Broncos.
Jun 9, 2011 12:37 AM Guest Midnight Patriot  says:
You're right on, Tim. God bless you for your stand. The Nation needs more athletes with your kind of vision.Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The Broncos should understand that when God is first, everything else falls into it's proper place, and the situation is all the better for it. Hang tough, my brother. Maranantha!
Jun 9, 2011 7:28 AM Guest Daniel D.H.  says:
Being a native Denverite, and now 35 years a Chattanoogan; I have Two "Football Heroes": Reggie White, and now Tim Tebow!
Jun 9, 2011 5:25 AM Guest Jerry R.  says:

Thanks Tim for your boldness and willingness to express who your true love is.  Not this world, but our Lord and Savior.

It's very refreshing to see an athlete set apart from the norm and in the news for something besides trouble.

He has his priorities in order and is a great example to our children (really all of us).

Jun 9, 2011 5:26 AM Guest Jessy S.  says:
HALLELUJAH!!!   True Praise & Glory Be To God!!!   It is truly refreshing to have someone in the media & celebrity status that Tim Tebow is, who is also very open about their focus/priority & committment being to God!   We need more people like him, male & female, in that area of life(celebrity status) with a God-centered conviction & stand & being open about it.
Jun 9, 2011 5:53 AM Guest bookworm  says:
May God continue to bless Tim Tebow and his witness. We certainly need more like him. Love his plain and simple philosophy! The Lord has placed him where he is, for just this purpose; clearly the Lord had big plans from him beginning before he was born!
Jun 9, 2011 5:58 AM Guest Katrina M.  says:
I thank God for the example of Tim Tebow. He's our family's favorite football player: we have followed him from the time he was in high school to now, and he's inspirational for all of us. My 10 year old daughter picked number 15 for her soccer jersey number. He is a shining example for all of us here, on how to be more like Jesus. As for his prioirites, I beleieve that has already been shown in his activities and his foundation, and his work ethics..and his 110% effort to put his all in whatsoever he is doing, all for the Glory of God. Thank you, Tim Tebow, and may God Bless you and your family.
Jun 9, 2011 6:20 AM Guest Tammy  says:

I have always been a Denver Bronco fan and I am so glad they have Tim as a quarterback. I pray that my 20 year old daughter will meet someone like Tim not a famous football player but a good Christian man. Thank you Tim for standing up for Jesus.

Praying my daughter will meet someone like you

Jun 9, 2011 7:41 AM Guest Darlene  says:
I think it is great to see a young man who is growing into the godly leader God has called him to be.
Jun 9, 2011 7:43 AM Guest Dwayne S.  says:

I'm glad to see Tim Tebow has his priorities right; but I would have to say that a majority of employers here in the US would tell you that if your job isn't top on your list, don't let the door strike you on the way out. The philosophy of 'do more with less' is everywhere. I know few professionals who are working less than 10 hours a day; and it's required; especially in IT. I've pulled many 24 hours days in my 20-year career; it's expected of  you; and asking to take your normal workday off after you've been up all night and worked the day before is looked on as 'not being a team player'.

I'd have to say that most people, if they were honest, could not tell their employer that the job wasn't their top prioirty if they wanted to keep their job.

Jun 9, 2011 6:38 AM Guest Melissa  says:
Way to go Tim!  What a great role model.  We will lift you up in prayer to remain strong in the Lord.
Jun 9, 2011 7:44 AM Guest Dave  says:
I'm now a Bronco's fan!!! Go Life, Go Family, Go Tim Tebow!!  (Can't wait to read your book)
Jun 9, 2011 6:44 AM Guest brenda  says:
How refreshing that a pro athlete has God his #1 priority.  What a wonderful role model for youth and ALL of us no matter what age!!!!!!  The dark side of this world will attack him, but he is strong enough to endure due to the grace of God.  Wish more athletes would take the same stand!!!!!.....rather than destructive behavior that makes headlines daily.  Go, Tim...God bless you and your cause!!!!!
Jun 9, 2011 6:47 AM Guest Lydia B.  says:
I think Tim has his priorities in order and he is a wonderful role model. We need to pray for him though because Satan loves to go after people like him, who have influence, to ruin their credibility
Jun 9, 2011 6:47 AM Guest Heather M  says:
While I love everything Tim is standing for, I believe we need to be careful about the pedistal we are putting him on.  As we have seen time and time again, the hire the pedistal gets, the worse the fall.  As christians, we need to remember that we are all flawed, and while he's an amazing young man, the ultimate role model is God.  So I want to ask you to pray for Tim.  Pray that God will use him as directional marker.  That he will continue to use his spotlight to point a lost world to the living God.  Pray for those around him that they help keep him grounded on the rock of Jesus Christ.  It's wonderfule to see someone stand for their fasith in such a public way.  Pray that God will protect him from everything else that comes with that spotlight.
Jun 9, 2011 6:49 AM Guest Keith U.  says:
How refreshing for a young man in the spot light to reveal his heart in a non-politically correct way.  His strength is an inspiration to me.  Tim, as a young man has his priorities right - many of us can learn a lesson from him.
Jun 9, 2011 6:53 AM Guest JK  says in response to Bob:
You're right Bob.  Thanks for clarifying that.  Blessing to you!
Jun 9, 2011 6:56 AM Guest Theda P  says:
I love it!!!  Praise the Lord!!
Jun 9, 2011 8:00 AM Guest Ruth R.  says:

First off, I want to say I am Buckeye through & through! But, when I saw the interview that Tim gave when he was deciding on which college to attend, I thought to myself " Wow, that kid really has himself together and his focus is straight on the mark!". I would cheer him on - except when we played against the Gators (ugh) and it would make our son - same age as Tim and going to OSU - quite irritated.  Our goal was to raise our son on Godly principles and Tim's parents envisioned the same for their son. Keep up the good fight and press on!

Jun 9, 2011 7:02 AM Guest Judy  says:
I heard Tim on Huckabee the other night How refreshing to hear a young man of faith and hear that his priorities are in order! I immediately thought of getting his book for my grandsons(who are big football fans:)  Two words come to mind..courage and integrity..encouraging to see and hear! Makes me want to be a better testimony for our Lord too..
Jun 9, 2011 7:05 AM Guest Linda D.  says:

Thank God for appropriate and relevant news.  Why can't the American public be drawn the topics of inspiration?  We need to hear more of these stories!

Thank you Tim and family, (all the others that are not in the news) for being willing to step out and really share your Faith  .

My hope and prayers are for your continued stamina, physically and Spiritually. To God be the Glory!

Jun 9, 2011 7:09 AM Guest Patty  says:

I am grateful my Christian co-workers did not find other employment, despite the behavior of co-workers and management.  As I felt the Lord calling me, my co-workers guided me and encouraged me.  They were the only people in my life that taught me the Salvation plan.  (And I attended church all throughout my childhood!)  The workplace is definitely a mission field.  We should be in prayer about whether to work or not work somewhere.  The Lord will guide us where he wants us.  Eventually I did leave.  I was not a strong enough Christian at that time to deal with all that was going on.  But what I went through there strengthened my prayer life immensely!  It was a difficult time, but oh how I grew in the Lord!

Jun 9, 2011 7:10 AM Guest K.J.  says:
My comment has more to do with Mr. Daly's suggestion of finding another job if your boss is upset. How amazingly out of touch! Where are these jobs? We don't all play games for a cushy living. And if anybody ever starts a foundation to relieve hard-working families who still live below the American poverty level, sign me up.
Jun 9, 2011 7:12 AM Guest Maria  says:
My faith and my family are my number one priorities which is why I left a lucrative partnership as an attorney in NYC 12 years ago when I became a Christian - so did my husband.  Our 1st tax return after coming to the Lord was 27% of what we earned the year before!  We have never been happier!  However, not all of us can be in ministry and outside some of the "Christian bubble" towns in the U.S. (like Colorado Springs), those of us in the secular world are ALWAYS feeling the tension caused by the common idea amoung every boss I have ever had that the job is the #1 priority.  We cannot just get another job either - especially in this economy....as Christians we need to push for a culture change about working to live and living for God  - as opposed to living to work and working for money!
Jun 9, 2011 7:14 AM Guest Patti C  says:
It is so refreshing to hear Tim speak abouth the importance of his faith and his family!  And what a wonderful gift to give his wife, the fact that she is the first and only woman in his life.  We have raised our children in this same light and it is so good to hear a prominent sports persona validate the importance of God, faith and fidelity in his life.  And kudos to Pam, his mother, for raising such a fine young man!
Jun 9, 2011 8:01 AM Guest D W.  says:
Some one said- "Finally a football star my son can (and does) look up to. Don't let us down, Tim. "  He is a great guy but only by and through Gods grace and by the Lord who sustains him.  If he looks away, as if any of us do... we can fall...  B L E S S I N G S !
Jun 9, 2011 8:02 AM Guest Frank C.  says:
Your prioirites are in their proper sequence and it's great to see a famous sports figure express his believes in public without fear of offending anyone. Never compromise your faith and family values.
Jun 9, 2011 7:21 AM Guest roger  says:
My boss knows my family is more of a priority to me than is my job - and it's the same for him.  He's not a believer, but I am blessed to work for a man like him.
Jun 9, 2011 7:22 AM Guest Cathy L.  says:
It is hard to find anyone these days in the spotlight who stands on our very basic values.  Tim, I will be praying that you can withstand the attacks that will be out there to turn you away from a Holy God!  We need our nation to turn back to it's roots and this young man is standing for what made our country proud!  Football is great, I love it.  However, it is not everything.  Never knew anyone had their priotities straight(God and family first) that did not have a GREAT work ethic!  God Bless!
Jun 9, 2011 7:22 AM Guest Sue  says:
Well said Mr. Daly!
Jun 9, 2011 7:27 AM Guest Debbie  says:
I have just added Tim Tebow to my prayer list. We, as brothers and sisters in Christ, should all pray for this young man daily. Ask God to build a hedge of protection around him from all those that would like to see him compromise his faith and convictions. Pray that his character remains strong and that he remains dedicated to God's plan for his life. I will also pray that God continues to bless him and keep him strong in the faith as he has more and more young people look to him as an example.
Jun 9, 2011 8:39 AM Guest Marilyn  says:
When God and his way are No. 1, everything else works.
Jun 9, 2011 7:29 AM Guest Lynne  says:
I have a 3 sons and I pray they will stand for the same values that Tim is talking about.  If my husband said God was his first priority, which he does say that, I would/am the proudest wife and respect him even more for being grounded in something other then job, wife and hobbies. Our country has gotten so far off the path that what used to be "normal" looks strange to this generation.   Tim has been placed in this time frame to be a Daniel/David/Jonathan for those of this generation.
Jun 9, 2011 7:30 AM Guest Belle007  says:
I'm not surprised at all at Tim's focus. :-) Since he's a Christian -- it makes sense. And yes, it is refreshing that a star football player has his priorities straight!  Good for him! May we all surround him with prayer so that he can stay strong in the Lord admist the fame and other non-Christian football players.
Jun 9, 2011 7:31 AM Guest Darren  says in response to Dale:

Dale,

Thank you for making that very important point.  Sociaty has been fooled into thinking, we (Christians) are perfect.  That very perception pushes people away from Christ.  However, the truth is, Christians are sinners and only through Christ we are forgiven.  Yes, we are all hypocrites!  Christians sin, Holy Spirite kicks us in the head and lets us now we sin, Christians repeant( make changes to prevent it from happening again) and ask the Father for foregiveness and MOVE ON with life.  Tim will make mistakes.  When that happens we must give him support and join him in spreading the Gospel.  Just like we did Josh Hamilton.

Jun 9, 2011 7:31 AM Guest Eddie  says:
I admire Tim Tebow for his outspoken faith and witness, but Jesus Christ was the only sinless man. The higher the pedestal that he is placed on, the harder the fall. I hope that if Tim makes a mistake, people are there to pick him up. We need more role models like Tim.
Jun 9, 2011 8:12 AM Guest Wayne G.  says:
Look around; there are 'heroes' everywhere.  Individuals who live impeccable lives and touch those around themself with inspiration and motivation.  Most receive little recognition beyond that of a few close relationships. Most will never know the notoriety of Tim Tebow.  Tim has the unique position of sharing his positive attitude and character and reaching many.  And, I hope God continues to bless his efforts and desire.  But, I also hope the many individuals who only touch a few will never quit!  The old saying, "I would rather see a sermon than hear one anyday", will be the driving force behind the efforts of all who seek to serve God first.
Jun 9, 2011 7:44 AM Guest Carla  says:

Hooray for Tim, putting GOD first and then his job!

Jun 9, 2011 7:46 AM Guest Norma  says in response to Midnight Patriot:
Wouldn't a strong focus on a foundation, that obviously requires funding, be a strong motivator to be one's best at the sport, job, or other means of income that is obviously funding the foundation in the first place.  An athlete with a strong motivation for success other than self, women, partying, and look-at-me status is a plus in any sport, or employment for that matter.
Jun 9, 2011 7:48 AM Guest Sally L.  says:
From his testimony, it would be great if the youth of our nation would hear and follow his example. And another wonderful example of how the Lord is pouring out His Spirit upon this younger generation. Glory to God..
Jun 9, 2011 7:49 AM Guest Vicki K  says:
That is the most refreshing thing I have had in along time, way to go Tim!!  I would just like to say "thank you" to Tim for speaking boldly about what he believes in especially staying pure until he is married.  Our kids really need to hear that and coming from a football star just helps to make that sink in.  Thanks again Tim, you are truly an inspiration!!
Jun 9, 2011 8:08 AM Guest Tom R.  says:
We are each given a, seemingly, brief window in time to make our marks, work at our purpose and draw others to our Savior.  It is so-refreshing to see any professional athlete, these days, truly express that there is so much more to life than sports.  Not only do I hope that such testimony continues to inspire and encourage young people, but I hope that it will do the same for moms and dads - to get off the sports-sofa and start playing with their own kids.  May God bless Tim as he continues to live and love for Him, daily.
Jun 9, 2011 8:46 AM Guest Bob  says:

What a fantastic column. There is something Palin-esque about Tebow in that the media loves to bash him. Must be his faith. His comment deserves defending, and you did a great job doing so.

Jun 9, 2011 7:58 AM Guest Merilee  says:
Praise the Lord for a young man going against the norm for professional sports players as well as many who call themselves Christians! We do need to commend Tim Tebow for his strong Biblical stance that he has taken and continues to take, however, we do need to remember to keep our eyes on the Lord at all times.  Thank you Tim, for being a Godly example for our children to be encouraged by.
Jun 9, 2011 8:00 AM Guest Marj  says:
I agree with Lydia B.  (word for word)........go Tim go!!
Jun 9, 2011 8:11 AM Guest Roberta  says in response to Kolburt S.:
Just a reminder:  Reggie White "retired" by going home to be with the Lord.
Jun 9, 2011 8:49 AM Guest maria  says:
Praise God, for blessing this world with such an blest young man, he is truly a blessing to all who know, love and heard of him. I pray that God would continiue to be number 1 in his life and that he would continue to be an inspiration for all the boys and young men seeking to play the game. It's such a blessing to me and us as a whole to have such an amazing young man speak up for Christ, his heavenly our father. blessings to you always Tim. Without God we would not be here. It's so refreshing to see and hear of his faith.
Jun 9, 2011 8:23 AM Guest Rayma Z  says:
With God as Tim's first priority, his career (whether it be football, or anything else) will soar! Way to go Tim (and his family who gave him the godly foundation)!
Jun 9, 2011 8:53 AM Guest Tamara  says:
"Strange" in comparison to societal norms these days, YEAH!  But strange in terms of eternal values and what's really important in life---absolutely NOT!  Yes, it is refreshing to hear someone say people are more important than work--whatever that work may be.  You ask, "Would  your boss be upset if you told him or her that your job wasn't your top  priority? If they would, I might suggest that you start looking for  another job. Personally, I wouldn't want to work for anyone who thinks a  job is more important than my faith and my family."  In my experience, MOST bosses these days ARE upset if you don't make your job your top priority and give 200% dedication and willingness to sacrifice your family life.  Some of them have been quite blatant about it with me -- probably because I make no secret that my family is more important to me than any job. But that is an unpopular stance in today's workplace.  One likely to get you "blacklisted" and quite ungraciously "invited" to take your services elsewhere when push comes to shove or cutbacks loom. Which is why I stick to homeschooling and freelance writing now....I don't need the extra grief that comes from having a boss that puts worldly priorities above the eternal values that God calls us to:  Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul, mind and strength; and love your neighbor as yourself--starting with family and friends!!  I'd rather hear a well done from God than a dozen earthly bosses who act as modern day kings and emperors and expect you to bow your knee to their idols of power and position!
Jun 9, 2011 8:55 AM Guest Sharon  says:
Thank God for athletics like Tim Tebow.  It gives young men someone to truly aspire and want to be like!  It is so awesome that Tim gives us a Godly example of what a Pro Athletic looks like.  I am so thankful for Tim to have as an example for my sons!  What a message Tim and his mother have, not only to athletics but to women out there having to make life choices.  Thank you both!
Jun 9, 2011 8:45 AM Guest Roxanne  says:
I am super impressed with Tim and admire his putting God first in his life!  I think that he is an excellent example for our children who look up to star athletes and want to be just like them.  We, as humans, often forget to prioritize what's most important in our lives.  Without God and his son, Jesus, there would be no hope for this world.  I think that Tim's commitment to his faith, family and career shows that he has his priorities straight.  Hats off to you, Tim!  God bless you as you get your book published and I will be looking forward to reading it.  (By the way, I am a big-time Steelers fan, but like to keep track of good players from all teams and I will definitely be keeping track of Tim as he moves forward in his faith, family values and football career!)
Jun 9, 2011 10:04 AM Guest Gene  says:
I admire Tim as I do all Christian Athletes who express thier faith in Christ , BUT I want to address your comments referring that if your boss dosn't like Christ being your number priorty you should find a different job. That's really easy for you to say if you're in the christian media business, but I feel God often puts us in places where we can show his love and be a good example of what a good christian worker is like. Should Tim quit football becuase some feel his number one priorty is not football. NO look how effective he is. I get excited when my employess express thier faith here at work, the the reality is my Boss wants my number priorty to be sales. However God is result is God is glorified and sales are booming. I say do a great job for your boss as doing it to God and your boss will be blessed and so will the kingdom.
Jun 9, 2011 9:16 AM Guest Linda  says:
Awesome.
Jun 9, 2011 9:17 AM Guest Vivian  says:

Congratulations to Tim Tebow he is a young man that knows and understands the word of God, for God says in His word to seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and everything will be added unto you, He didn't say a few things or some things He said everything will be added unto you.  In doing that God will take care of you and your family and generations to come.  Jesus said when we follow him we will be persecuted for His sake.  God is using Tim Tebow to let the world know that he is not afraid to Love the Lord and live his

life according to the Word of God!

Jun 9, 2011 9:17 AM Guest Peggy  says in response to Dale:

Dale,

Like it or not, when other believers stand or fall, it affects us all and especially our children.  They are too young sometimes to separate their 'heroes' from Christ because those heroes represent who Jesus is to them.  If someone you admire and respect falls into sin, those who are immature in faith can lose hope that they can stay strong, even if it is only a temporary loss of hope.  To whom much is given, much is required.

Jun 9, 2011 9:51 AM Guest Jeff  says:
A professional sports career is short.  Foundations and other worthwhile endeavors pass to generations.
Jun 9, 2011 9:25 AM Guest Gail  says:
The Bible says in several places that "He who honors Me I will honor."  'Nuff said.
Jun 9, 2011 9:40 AM Guest Jocelyne  says:
This is inspiring and encouraging to see in such a young man.  Thank you for showing the world what really matters......faith in the Lord and family.  Stay strong and faithful to you biblical values and God bless you!!!!
Jun 9, 2011 9:48 AM Guest Cherie  says:

THANK YOU for such a GREAT story!!  Tim's story touched me as I too was told to end my pregnancy due to a heart condition.  I chose life and have  the most incredible daughter (who is now 20)!!  Tim's story and how he lives his life is a real inspiration.  I pray that my daughter (like Tim) continues to live in a way that brings glory to the throne.

Jun 9, 2011 11:24 AM Guest Katie  says:

"Would your boss be upset if you told him or her that your job wasn't your top priority? If they would, I might suggest that you start looking for another job. Personally, I wouldn't want to work for anyone who thinks a job is more important than my faith and my family."

This is the biggest reason why my husband and I got out of the military.  In our experience, we were always told to "put the mission first" and there is a culture where I have seen people practically bragging that the military that they have always done so -- even at the cost of their families (divorce, 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th marriages before the age of 25, etc.).  We have both dealt with (particularly my husband) ridicule stemming from this decision within the military, while others are supportive of the idea.  I agree a paycheck is important (so one can have a roof, food, etc.), but just because a paycheck is stable doesn't mean the job is good for one's family.  It is more important to see one another so you can build a life with each other.  If you can't do that, you're not a family.  You're simply people who share bill-paying responsibilites.

Jun 9, 2011 10:07 AM Guest Mike  says:

Tim Tebow is a football player I am proud to have my son look up to.  As president of the local junior football program, I would hope our young players see him as a role model to follow.  Thanks Tim.

Jun 9, 2011 10:23 AM Guest Lew  says:

I think his comment was entirely correct. Football is for a season and serving the Lord is for a lifetime.

Proverbs 22:4 sums up what life is all about. If you put everything you have in God's Hands you will

see God's Hands in everything you have and I think Tim is doing that. Life isn't about you and me.

Life is all about serving the Lord and living our lives to please Him in all we say and do and Tim is

right where he should be!      I Corinthians 15:1-4

Jun 9, 2011 10:37 AM Guest Pam D  says:
How awesome!  I pray that he never loses his focus.  In fact we all need to pray for him, to come against the enemy on his behalf.  I am sure that with his drive and determination for the Lord he is a prime target.
Jun 9, 2011 10:41 AM Guest 50K  says in response to Dale:
Dale, I'm not sure what "position" your speaking of. Kathleen didn't say or even imply that her or her family put Tebow in such high regard that their faith might be shaken by him doing something wrong. I seems like a simple comment of encouragement. Just becasue someone is looked up to doesn't mean they are held in equal with Christ.
Jun 9, 2011 10:49 AM Guest Vickie  says:
I just finished listening to a recorded book by Karen Kingsbury called "Between Sundays."  Its story line is about a young hot-shot quarterback who is mentored by an aging Christian quarterback; who falls in love with an "ordinary" young woman who works three jobs, volunteers at a local youth center, and raises a foster son (who is possibly the quarterback's son from a high school relationship); and who ultimately learns what it means to put God first in your life.  The older quarterback tells him "It is not what you do on Sunday that counts; it is what you do between Sundays."  Tim Tebow gets it - it is what you do between Sundays that really counts!
Jun 9, 2011 11:14 AM Guest kath  says:

Mr Daly,

I appreciate your article about Tim Tebow, and find a young athelete following Jesus and staying pure real encouragement for the church. But i do have concerns about your suggestion that people find another job if their employer does not understand that their families come first. God many times places His people in positions with unbelievers as employers because He desires they live Him in front of them to win them to Him. Part of that kind of environment is that the employer doesn't have a clue to a Christlike lifestyle. My husband has been privileged to work side by side with nonbelievers most of his life and has been the light in the darkness at those places. In fact, he lead a friend of mine to the Lord who later introduced me to my husband. Had he not been faithful in working for that business that did not understand family principles we never would have met! Currently God is using Him to build a solid team of caring, compassonate men that are learning how to each other.  I would not deny God's using him there because his boss doesn't understand the family first principle.

Jun 9, 2011 11:37 AM Guest Maggie  says:
Tim is a wonderful young man....one that any Mom would love her daughter to marry.  He has a deep faith and is able to stand up for his beliefs and priorities in such a secular world.   God bless him and his family and let his example shine for young athletes who follow him.
Jun 9, 2011 12:03 PM Guest Pat  says:

BLESSINGS to him and his family....FINALLY a man with convictions and the fame to be able to promote his strong beliefs.

Let us pray for a hedge of protection around him so that NOTHING ( !!!) down the road  will taint his reputation or deter him from his devotion.

Jun 9, 2011 12:03 PM Guest Amy  says:
Good for Tim!  I applaud his "strange" behavior.  My husband and I are reading a book right now...Weird, Because Normal Isn't Working.  LOVE IT!  Keep about the Lord's work, Tim!
Jun 9, 2011 12:24 PM Guest Sandy  says:
Thank God for this young man and the example he is showing to the world.
Jun 9, 2011 12:37 PM Guest carribeanrunner  says:
I admired him when I saw the commercial.  He's not afraid of living a Christ centered life.  I pray he excels in whatever the Lord brings to his life. Blessings to his mom.
Jun 9, 2011 1:00 PM Guest Sue W.  says:

I applaud Tim for putting God ahead of everything else.  I believe God will honor him even more

for doing this.  Oh, if only people would realize that if we would put God above all our wants

and desires, what a different world this would be.

Jun 9, 2011 1:27 PM Guest Jeff B.  says:

If you put God first in your life, everything else will fall in place. I would say Tim's life is in the right order because his goals are in the right order. He is the type of hero I want my players to look up to. He has the platform to share this wonderful Christian life. May continue to God bless him and his foundation.

Jun 9, 2011 2:14 PM Guest jb  says:
God Is Most Important, period, end, and God Willing may all creation serve He and neighbor knowing that! praise The LORD for such a guy as this retaining his faith and sharing it with others Amen
Jun 9, 2011 2:26 PM Guest K.G.  says:
Praying for this young man.  His battles will be great.  I'm thankful for him living his faith out in his high profile life.
Jun 9, 2011 3:02 PM Guest Richard G.  says:
It's great to see that Tim's priorities ARE in the correct order !!!! And I can only hope and pray that the rest of the world keeps their priorities in order, God, Family, and Others first, jobs and games second !!!!!!
Jun 9, 2011 4:07 PM Guest Janet  says:
So encouraging...may the Lord continue to bless him!!!!!
Jun 9, 2011 5:25 PM Guest Joe E  says:
Tim is "the real deal"....not ashamed of his faith, has his priorities in order and a tremendous role model for people...young or old, athletes or not.  His impact is being felt in a world that needs "Christ in us the hope of Glory" and on the football field where the male role model has been more often than not maligned and where men on and off the field need to see true masculinity.  Go Tim and may the Lord Jesus continue to bless you and the abilities He's given you as well as His favor on your foundation!  You're the man!!!!
Jun 9, 2011 5:41 PM Guest Mark J  says:
I loved Tim Tbow and his moms commercial durinf the Super Bowl. I prayed that pro football would not change such a blessed man. I am glad to see that it hasn't. God bless Tim Tebow and especially his mom, for deciding to keep this baby, and then raise such a God Fearing young man.
Jun 9, 2011 5:55 PM Guest Jay  says:

The accolades for Tim Tebow are certainly deserved. He is a breath of Holy Boldness for a nation of sin and compromise for fame and fortune. May God continue to guide him.

The thought from Jim Daly about suggesting you look for a new job if your employeer has a negative response to the LORD BEING YOUR #1 PRIORITY is pretty OFF the Spiritual mark as I understand the Bible.

I pray that Christians would instead; pray for God's guidance about such life changing decisions. Jim is usually right on the mark as I understand things... but this thought does not seem to fit. God Bless Jim Daly and the Focus on the Family organization.

Blessings,

Jay

Jun 9, 2011 6:42 PM Guest John W.  says:

I agree with Tim all the way. It is good to have God on our side, and I have never believed he decides the outcome of ballgames. He knows what is best for us and I'm sure he will be with Tim and his Mom.

Jun 9, 2011 6:27 PM Guest Judy  says in response to Rodger:
Bravo!!!!
Jun 9, 2011 8:22 PM Guest Mrs. Joy  says:
Thank you Tim, for being an outstanding role model.  You not only talk about faith, you put it to work.
Jun 9, 2011 7:36 PM Guest Teresa S.  says:
Tim is such a great role model and inspiration to so many kids and adults alike.  May God continue to bless him and keep him protected from the schemes of satan.  With so many eyes on Tim, Satan would hit the jackpot if Tim should falter.  Like we pray for our pastors and other Christian leaders, we should also be praying for our Christian celebrities.  God has chosen them with a purpose; to impact our society greatly with heavenly standards and the love of Jesus.  It is so refreshing to see a professional athlete tell the world that God is his number 1 priority, and then live that life for all to see.  God bless you, Tim Tebow!
Jun 9, 2011 8:23 PM Guest Anselma  says:

As a mom of a 16 year old daughter, I understand the pressures youth encounter when they decide to remain pure. I showed this story to my daughter, and she believes that this story should be made as public as possible. She has decided to use his story to demonstrate to ALL young people the importance of being different.

My daughter, Kyky, kissed me on the forehead for not aborting her - I too was once in such a quagmire.

My five year old son loves sports. I will always be grateful to Tim Tebow for sharing his story. May God continue to shine his grace upon you and give you peace.

Jun 10, 2011 6:05 AM Guest Suzanne C.  says:
There is a reason why Tim Tebow is such an attraction to so many. It is because he is a pure vessel for the LORD.  It is Jesus who is the attractive one.  Tim just lets Him shine through himself so purely!  Thank you Tim for being a good and faithful servant!  I am sure there are countless new believers who will be introduced to the Lord because of your example. Praise God for you!
Jun 10, 2011 6:19 AM Guest Roberta H.  says:
I once told a supervisor (who was pushing me to work "voluntary" overtime) that my daughter was my first priority.  He told me I was wrong, that I needed my job to feed my daughter so my job should be my first priority.  I corrected him and said, "I need A job to feed my daughter; it does not have to be this job."  And I clocked out at my regular time.  There were no repercussions because I did nothing wrong.
Jun 10, 2011 6:20 AM Guest Brandon j.  says:

Let's not forget why Tim is such a wonderful athlete to start with.  God has had his hand on Tim since day 1.  The miracle of birth to his awesome abilities on the field;ALL GOD!  He would not be the man nor the athlete he is today, if it weren't for God.  Tim will always give a 110% on the field, but to have any beef about him saying his #1 focus is his foundation, you should feel blessed to have a star athlete in your progam that says and believes that.

Jun 10, 2011 6:21 AM Guest Lisa J.  says:

Sounds like Tim knows and believes the Word of God...  Put the Kingdom of God first and all these other things will be added to you.

Thanks Tim!

Jun 10, 2011 7:48 AM Guest Walda M.  says:
LOVE THAT YOUNG MAN......Our house is divided with half of us being Charger fans and the other being Bronco fans....When the Broncos got Tim, I became a Charger/Bronco fan....for some reason this has caused a big rukus in our home. Thank you Tim, for being a GREAT example to our kids.
Jun 10, 2011 9:43 AM Guest Terri  says:
Just another good example of how priorities DO influence your ENTIRE outlook and performance in life!  BECAUSE of his faith, he is a dedicated and hardworking individual.  Whether or not someone is a Christian DOES affect their opinions, career, family, friends, political view, etc.  It matters a whole lot and I'm proud -- as a life long Bronco fan and Colorado native -- that we have someone with such quality character in an influential position with the team.  Most of all... proud to call him my brother in Christ!
Jun 10, 2011 12:29 PM Guest Maricela T.  says:
Praise the Lord!!!   God Bless You Tim Tebow!
Jun 10, 2011 12:32 PM Guest Edith  says:
It is very refreshing to hear a young man loves the Lord and did not fall into the trap of peer pressure. I have a 14 year old son who plays sports year round and is a honor student.  He is at the age where peer pressure gets hard at school.  I pray he stands bold on his faith, like Tim.  So many of our youth attend church as kids then after high school they disappear because they get caught up in the things of this world ( sex, drugs, alcohol).  The world makes all these things seem like so much fun and make church sound boring. I hope Tim is able to reach millions with his story.  We need more men to be examples. We have plenty of women (Moms) but we need more men (Fathers) to take a stand and teach our boys Lords way and it starts with them as the best example.  Keep up the great work Tim.
Jun 10, 2011 12:48 PM Guest Margaret  says:
Tim has his priorities in correct order.  Like the Bible says to follow God first and all the rest will be added to you.  I am sooooooooooooooooooo proud of you Tim!  In my thoughts and prayers.  There is hope for our young men and women!!
Jun 10, 2011 12:58 PM Guest Brenda  says:
I say that Tim Tebow is truly a hero and someone our children can look up to. I love that he shares his faith and that it is his top priority. I pray that he stays strong in in his faith and will continue to share his faith with all those he comes in contact with. What an awesome testimony.
Jun 10, 2011 1:26 PM Guest Kim S  says:
I just heard someone speak this week on the difference in our passion and our calling.  Many times we think they must be the same.  This person described our calling as what we have in our hand..... what we are able to DO.  Our passion, on the other hand is what is in our heart.  The goal is for them to be able to co-exist under the leadership of the Spirit.  Obviously, what Tim Tebow's calling is (what's in his hand), is football.  It's a priority, but doesn't have to be his #1 priority for him to be committed to it.  My husband's job is not his #1 priority.  He does a great job, is committed to his job, and is a dedicated employee and does his very best.  But there are many other things that hold a higher priority emotionally than his job.  That's what Tim Tebow meant.  The media wouldn't understand that.
Jun 10, 2011 4:17 PM Guest Tami M  says:
Glory to God for all Tim is sharing!! Thank you!!
Jun 10, 2011 9:57 PM Guest Joe C  says:
I played some football in college about 40 years ago.  So I at least have some perspective on the mind of the football player.  Tim Tebow is the kind of young man the NFL and this USA needs; responsible, sincere, with priorities straight and based on his faith.  The scriptural hiearchy is God, Spouse, Children, Job and Ministry.  I think Tim has his priorites just right.  He's a fantastic young man and (since I'm from Louisiana) after the Saints, I'm a Denver Broncos fan.  I hope he keeps his priorities straight and continues to glorify the Lord with his strong witness while being an athlete and afterwards.
Jun 11, 2011 7:41 AM Abishag Abishag    says in response to Herb B.:

AMEN!  I agree with Herb, and many others. Go Tim Tebow, go! All for the Lord's glory and the good of his people!  I don't doubt that your integrity and faith will keep you pressing on for King Jesus!

Tim Tebow is being used right where he is at this time, "for such a time as this." Football is  the most aggressive sport. All praise to the Lord for keeping His divine protective angels all around Tim as he goes forth carrying the Word of the Living God!

Blessings to Jim Daly and Focus on the Family! JESUS IS LORD!

Jun 13, 2011 4:55 PM Guest Mike  says:
Tim Tebow is correct!  It's about time someone in the spotlight actually says something worth listening to.  As difficult peer pressure is, abstinence is the best way for everyone. Way to go Tim.....keep up the strength and excellent message you are delivering...and stay strong with your message that is backed by the strength and wisdom of Jesus!
Jun 11, 2011 10:07 AM Guest Ron T.  says:

1% of a billion > 100% of 1.

God IS first IF your life is to mean anything permanent.

If Tim puts God first, he is giving (for example, see above 'formula') 10,000,000 units (love, devotion, caring, etc) vs. the 'truly devoted guy' who ignores God and 'gives 100%'.

100% of 1 is 1.

1% of 1,000,000,000 is 10,000,000.

Think dollars if you must, just understand which is greater.

Jun 11, 2011 10:12 AM Guest Becky H.  says:
STAND for JESUS and HE will STAND for YOU!  WOW!  Thank God that HE is always in charge and thank God for faithful followers like Tim Tebow!  Tim is an INSPIRATION to parents and grandparents trying to HOLD FAST to the TRUTH of God's Word and raise and teach their children and grandchildren that the world is WRONG and HE is RIGHT - past present and future. I say "Hold fast, Tim. You are never alone. And you WILL be rewarded for your STAND - ye soldier of the CROSS."
Jun 11, 2011 5:24 PM Guest Mark W.  says in response to Becky H.:
It is never too late for Tiger to take a lesson from the likes of Tim. Yes, Tim will have his errors, but with his firm foundation in Christ, he will stand up to his errant way, acknowledge his mistake and move on, unlike most of today's "stars" who continue to fall over and over. God Bless, Tim!
Jun 11, 2011 2:04 PM Guest Tina H.  says:
My heart absolutely sings for joy knowing that there strong believers in the public eye that aren't afraid to live the truth in the face of adversity.  Praying for protection from the schemes of the emeny to try to defeat his perserverance to pursue righteousness for Christ' sake. Blessings upon blessings Tim as you continue to stand and walk in your faith.
Jun 11, 2011 4:25 PM Guest Gary  says in response to Dale:
Kathleen, you are right on. Tim is just a mortal like the rest of us. No better, no worse. And it is precisely for this reason that our focus should be on the Grace of our God as manifested in Christ; and not men. We are all fallible. In Christ, we are all forgiven. PTL! That is the inspiration. That is what separates us from dangerous pride: from the Holier-than-thou attitude which can creep into our lives and undermine our love for others who struggle, but without the knowledge of the Great Salvation available in Christ.

I have two granddaughters and have to say I worry whether they'll be able to find young men of such valor as Tim Tebow. I believe the only safe sex is between two virgins who marry and remain faithful to one another. I applaud Tim for having the courage to stand up for righteousness and pray that one day, he'll find the young lady who has kept herself pure for him too. They can do all things through Christ!!!
Jun 13, 2011 8:06 AM Guest Vivian S.  says in response to Sharon B.:

Keep praying, Tim, you can't do it alone.  May God bless you.

I am a business owner.  We expect family to take priority over jobs.  As a matter of fact, we set that very example.  When my kids were young, their activities took precedent over our business.  We had to learn to balance but we were always number one fans at our kids activities.  Tim, keep up the great work and your example.  We NEED leaders like you, especially in the sporting arena!!!
Jun 12, 2011 8:14 PM Guest Michelle  says:
I thank God daily that I have a job that is a calling (I work with adult developmentally disabled) and I work for an agency which was founded by a religious order (the Daughters of wisdom) which values the Great Commission  and serves the "least of Mine", and wants its employees to value their Faith, Family and their "mission" on their job. It's a rare thing but I'm so grateful everyday... I've been with this agency 21 years and LORD willing I'll work for them 'til I am called Home to Glory!!,

Tim Tebow's comment is refreshing and so is the man who called into the radio station referring to the attention of the usual athlete behavior to the "bling, bars and out-of-wedlock births".  I wish more people would call the demeaning behavior of many athletes (and other professionals) what it really is.  Don't give up people. Continue to teach your young athletes at home that it is important to stand up for your faith and trust in what the Lord Jesus Christ teaches and promises.  As far as Tim's comment about his foundation vs. his job, we own a business where we have always supported family and Christian faith commitments and our employees have never taken advantage of that stand.  I must say that our willingness to rearrange schedules and share responsibilities and hardships has only made our staff stronger.  They care for each other as a family and treat our customers as part of that family too.  I wouldn't want to be know as any other kind of business.

Jun 13, 2011 3:02 PM Guest Sonya S.  says:
God gives us talents to glorify HIM. Using those platforms to further God's kingdom. I believe he is setting a great example of what God has called him to do, he is just using football to do it.  Giving 100% when you are at your job and it not being ones main priority is two different things. God, spouse, children and then everything else. God takes care of all the other details. Keep it up Tim, you are helping those who think that you can not stand for our faith that we can!!!  Loving Him Greatly, Sonya
Jun 14, 2011 7:43 PM Guest Tanya N.  says:
Hopefully anyone's stating their priority the way Tim did would reflect their foundational life philosophy and not be counted against them.  If I was a boss, I would consider it an asset for a worker to have such a righteous priority!  God strengthen Tim in the lighthouse he is!!!  Very encouraging.
Jun 15, 2011 11:32 AM Guest Keith  says:
As with so many others, I too admire Tim, but not only for his faith in God, but in how he lives this faith; openly, as all Christians are supposed to do, undaunted by those who "attack" him and his values. He is a true Godly role model... thanks Tim!
Jun 15, 2011 11:41 AM Guest Janelle  says:
I agree with Norm's comment~ Tim needs our prayers daily. Satan will do all he can to tempt Tim and wants nothing more than to see Godly people stumble! But God IS the winner! "May you be surrounded by the protection of the Holy Spirit and may your boldness bring the lost to Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen"
Jun 16, 2011 10:31 AM Guest Becky  says:
I love it. Tim sounds like an athletic star that most of the other athletes need to emulate. What a great example he is to his teammates and fans. And, there are some kids out there who idolize him, and he sounds like the best kind of person to idolize. Keep it up, Tim!
Jun 16, 2011 4:39 PM Guest Martha  says:
Awesome and a true leader for our youth.  This type of man is very rare in our culture.
Jun 20, 2011 8:18 AM Guest Carmen G.  says:
God bless you Tim! And God bless you Mother who taught you so well. You'll be in my prayers for a long, long time.
Jun 22, 2011 2:34 PM Guest Shirley  says:
I will hold this young man in my prayers... with his position in sports, much temptation will come his way especially since he has made known his intentions to remain celibate until marriage.. (which I applaud)  there will be many young women in this present culture who will delight in trying to dissuade him from that goal. I will pray that God is with him in every situation of temptation... Stay strong Tim... we all love and support you as you are.. God bless your Mom....
Jun 25, 2011 3:10 PM Guest Tirso  says:
This stance is what true christianity is all about. Not just merely a religion or a philosophy but rather a true expression of God's nature. I encourage all of us who profess Christ as saviour and Lord to walk like Tim Tebow walks, that is without shame. God bless
Dec 15, 2011 8:35 PM Guest Anna  says:

Tim Tebow is an amazing role model - even for this 'old' mom. Our boys are 18, 22 and 23 - it's difficult to be a 'real man' in this secular, 'chickified' world.

What a witness is our brother in Christ, Tim Tebow (although he is a Gator). We can only hope: our 19-yr old daughter, honor student at UGA (at least we'd stay within the conference!) would continue to save herself and be blessed with someone as wonderful as this fine young man.
